Even though word was going around that the game was cancelled and it was to be treated as if it had never been played, look at the KHSAA rule in the rulebook as pertains to a game not being able to be finished. If I read it correctly then Trinity is listed with a 10-0 victory? Whay do you guys think? From KHSAA Handbook - Just looked it up earlier today - 2) If game interrupted and cannot be resumed, three choices exista) Terminate game with score as it exists; b) Resume game at point of interruption at a mutually agreed date and time. This decision must be finalized at the site prior to team departure. c) Resume the game on the following calendar day, unless published Board policies prohibit such play, in which case it shall be played the following day.3) If game interrupted a) Same crew of officials expected to return to complete contest b) Substitute officials shall be paid the local policy board mileage add-on only c) Local associations shall develop policy on compensation of substitute officials (such as pooling game fees, etc) d) Officials have no say in the postponement decisions, except to moderate discussion. e) Officials and coaches should involve not solely coaches, but school administrators in the decision. f) All involved must remember that this situation is caused by elements such as weather that are uncontrollable by anyone, and keep the discussions in that perspective.

X player was Josh Boehnlein...rumor in the pressbox was that he had a twisted back but they immobilized him and took him in just to be safe. He had just made a tackle on a T player and landed under the T player when about 4 or 5 other X guys jumped on the pile. Looked bad at first but the coaches think he's ok. Hope so!

I guess this would be a good time to point out that at last night's Trinity 1953 Society dinner, Dr. Mullen noted that back over the summer Trinity received a national award for being recognized over ALL other Catholic high schools in the USA (approximately 1,200) in that Trinity welcomes students of every possible learning ability. Dr. Mullen stated that Trinity accepts students that score a 99% on the entrance exam and are recognized as Monsignor Steinhauser scholars as well as accepting students who may be slower learners and score in the single digits on the entrance exam. They are all welcomed and worked with at Trinity to become the best student they can. I "like and appreciate" that while they're sorting out the test scores they have to glance away from the "win at all costs" syndrome, which is very suspect to me in the first place. Care to elaborate, Tiger 2023?

Shamrock 69 is correct-the score was 23-8 when he left in the 3rd quarter. Trinity scored again and it was 23-15 at the end of the 3rd. Then in the 4th quarter the game switched from being a "regular game" the first 3 quarters to being a "controlled scrimmage", where each team would run either 5 or 10 plays at a time. If a team scored in that period, they would not kick an extra point or try for 2 points. And instead of the other team getting the ball after a score, sometimes the team that scored got the ball back at their 30 to keep running their set of plays. I know that happened with Trinity at least twice in the 4th. It was hard to follow the scoring during the 4th, but Trinity played much better in the 4th and outscored Scott County by 2 or 3 to 1, and that's why I posted earlier that if you combined the points for the entire game, Trinity would have won by around 7-10 points. Another interesting thing was that this was a scrimmage for the officials as well. We had 9 officials for the game, and they worked in and out of the game all night. The white hat we had was a veteran referee, and he kept tight control of the game. But a couple of the other fellas came in at the referee position, and one fella in particular let a few things go on after the whistle that could've led to problems, although order was restored quickly. Then when the white hat came back in, the game tightened up again considerably. Also, I don't recall seeing any injuries at all, which is great for a scrimmage.

Agree, Ox. Scott County is deceptive, run great fakes, and are extremely fast. They'll give everybody trouble.

All games do have a play clock, it's just that the official on the field keeps it on his watch. It should be 25 seconds from the time the referee marks the ball ready for play.

I combined all the scores to come up with a "final score". There was a lot of switching of personnel throughout the game, and although the varsity started out the game, it wasn't an instance of where the varsity came out and the whole JV went in. A lot of people got to play tonight, and except for the early part of the game with just varsity, there were multiple levels of players in the game at any given point. I did think that in some cases there were 2nd and 3rd level players that came in and outplayed a starter--maybe just first game jitters, I don't know. Scott County has a very good, very fast team, and should do well this season. But whatever you do, don't count the Rocks out, because as the Stones say, "The kids are alright!"

That may well be, but people also saw the results of the championship game. I saw every Trinity game last season, and the improvement in the team from the first X game to the second was breathtaking. The Rocks got better every game and that culminated in the December game. That's what happens when you "finish".

If I remember correctly the teacher in question was Winston Hardy. The band would also come to the home basketball games and play during timeouts and at halftime. They even reportedly cut a record (or CD, I don't remember which). Also, supposedly Winston Hardy had something to do with Janis Joplin's old band, Big Brother and The Holding Company, back in the day before he came to Trinity. Seems like he filled in with the group once in a while when someone couldn't make it (or had a problem with an upper level disturbance...).
