I was unable to attend the game. LSU, what was your take on it?

This game went like I thought.....

It was just too tough for an X team minus their sophmore studs to beat a Trinity team with their sophmore and junior studs.

QB Stein (sp?) for Trinity looked good and T's kicker (I won't even attempt a spelling) was awesome....He hit a 45 yarder with about 10 yards to spare. He also kicked every kick-off into the endzone.....PAT's bounced off cars in the parking lot......RB Kirksey (sp?) also looked good...nice spin moves....

X's policy of not playing juniors or Varsity sophmores vs. Trinity's policy of playing them was the deciding factor in this game. X was over-matched in this one. I see advantages and disadvantages to both schools' policies.

tcjkbt,

The score tells the story. I was surprised at a couple of things. Trinity ripped off a couple of long gains on busted plays because the X defense got out of position. JaMar Kirksey got stuffed at the line on one play and completely reversed field for a long gain, very un X like. X seemed very unorganized. They were out of timeouts with about 5 or 6 minutes left in the first half due to substitution errors (ten men twice). X's kicking game was poor at best, this is usually a highpoint of the X program. X also threw the ball a bunch once they got down a couple of scores. I think they completed one or two passes in the first half. They seemed very uncomfortable passing the ball. Overall, I was happy with the win but X didn't look like they were prepared to play which is surprising in this rivalry. Nice crowd on both sides cosidering the weather.

I want to make a note that Trinity held out a significant number of sophomore "studs". I've been hearing it already how the only reason Trinity wins these games is because we play juniors. Its not our fault St. X doesnt give the juniors that dont play much on varsity experience in the JV game..but to say thats the reason T won tonight is downright wrong. Trinity won because they out physicalled St. X tonight...bottom line

Sorry, but if Trinity wanted to play so-called soph and jr "studs" they would have played Phillips(soph), Mattingly (soph), Robey (jr), Weitlauf (jr), Kupper (jr), Alex and Nathan Dutton (jr), Jeff Neagli (jr) etc. I think you are trying to find an excuse and I would suggest you look elsewhere. I will also point out that while Trinity played every kid in uniform including multiple series by each of three QBs, St. X didn't pull out their starter until less than a minute was left in the game. Only then did the number two signal caller get the nod. Another very un-X like move.

I did not say Trinity played "all their studs". But it is Trinity's policy to play juniors (some that get significant varsity time) on their JV team. They did play Stein, Petrino, Petrovic, and others. There is nothing wrong or illegal about it.

St. X does not play any juniors or their sophmores that play Varsity. There is nothing wrong about that.

Both schools have their policies and there is nothing wrong with either one of them. They both have advantages and disadvantages....like I said. I never said Trinity did anything wrong........

...but to think that if X played by the same policies (which I know is their choice) that this game would have had the same result is just insane...

Just ONCE can't we pretend to be adults a discuss a game?

X and T have both played Jrs. in the past in a JV game...RELAX..it is a high school game not the end of the world!!!!

Each team has its own policies and acts to best develop its own program. Based on the results on the field, it would seem that the Trinity system works better.

I agree with this 100 %.

First, Petrino is a sophmore that is a reserve on the varsity. Petrovic is a junior that sees little to no varsity tme. Stein plays WR on the varsity (not a starter) and is the backup QB on varsity so he gets very little QB time on the varsity level. This is unlike the X QB situation where Zoeller was ahead of Wade last year and I believe whas the starter for the Tigers earlier this season.

Second, I noticed that sophmore Trevor Foy started and played the entire game for X. He also was the first D-lineman to rotate in for X in the varsity game with Highlands. He made a couple of nice tackles that afternoon. He may or may not be the only such player, I just noticed him wearing #93 today and #50 on varsity. You know what they always say... policies were made to be broken.:sssh:

First off, its a JV game, an opportunity to give kids playing time.

Second, I think we should be talking about what the kids did on the field and not how one team won or lost because the other team does things differently.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I find it terrible that St. X and Trinity fans have such a difficult time with the idea of a "friendly" rivalry. If you really want to make your opponents look bad, try being the bigger person when you post.

Congrats , Rocks on the win. ( Really!!) Did Stein look good passing or running or both?

Did Carrico get any passes his way at his new position TE?

It appears that ST X changed their policy for this game, there were several Juniors that played today, on the o/l and the d/l, or maybe these kids were held back and several of the St. X soph were red shirted at their grade school.

What was the problem with St. X defensive tackle # 90 he seemed to want to talk trash most of the game and he even tried to start something with the Trinity Kicker {common a kicker vs a defensive tackle) and several other players but he didn't appear to want to mess with his opponet on the line I think it was # 51 or #58.

Trinity just played great today, their second great win this season, the first was a win against Moeller.

You know everybody is blaming the dark Trinity -vs- X clouds on us. That is sometimes true but not in this case. I don't care who plays, it is a JV team. Do we need to read when X gets beat, that "we don't play juniors"? NO!!!!!!

Fact is, you do play juniors, you have since I played. You just might not play as many as we do. Maybe that's why we generally fair better early on in the varsity seasons. Who knows? Who cares?

Great game Rocks, good luck Frosh Rocks, and Varsity Rocks.
