jimmyref,

Stein had a great game both running and passing. He had one run in particular where he was flushed out of the pocket and was nearly tackled a couple of times only to pop free and run for a TD. He had a long TD bomb to Bobby Petrino that was a thing of beauty. A great ball caught in full stride down the sideline for about 70 yards.

Trinity looked good and T's kicker (I won't even attempt a spelling) was awesome....He hit a 45 yarder with about 10 yards to spare. He also kicked every kick-off into the endzone.....PAT's bounced off cars in the parking lot......

Zlatan Petrovic is the kickers name (I don't blame you for not trying to spell it. I had to look it up) and he looks to be a good one. When they trotted out to attempt that FG in the rain from 45 yards I thought "get real". I knew the kid could nail them from over fifty in practice, but in a game in the rain? I had my doubts, not anymore. Most every kick-off high into the endzone with a number of them landing near the back of the end-zone. Very impressive.

First off, its a JV game, an opportunity to give kids playing time.

Second, I think we should be talking about what the kids did on the field and not how one team won or lost because the other team does things differently.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I find it terrible that St. X and Trinity fans have such a difficult time with the idea of a "friendly" rivalry. If you really want to make your opponents look bad, try being the bigger person when you post.

If you find the content of this thread terrible, then why are you participating in it? My goodness, the Bluebird of happiness needs to make a stop in Ft. Thomas.

Who told you it was a "friendly rivalry"? In the very first game in 1956, St. Xavier left their starters in until 2 minutes remained in a 48-0 romp over the first varsity Trinity team with Seniors. The long time AD of Trinity, Father Jansing explained to me that St.X was forced into starting the series by the local Catholic hierarchy. They tried to "beat us into the ground" so the series would not continue. Ancient history by today's standards. The article in the Courier-Journal confirms that St. X did have their starters in until very late.

Friendly rivalry, I think not. Great rivalry, yes indeed. This week the alums tolerate each other at work, etc. Those related by marriage are in a tough spot. Those who have histories at both schools try to stay neutral, but deep down they choose a side. Former Westport head coach Earl Browning refers to this game as a "Holy War". There are no artificial geographical boundaries in this match up. We live together in harmony 50 or 51 weeks out of the year. This week is a little different.

The Trinity defense played well. The third string Rocks gave up the hard fought lone St. Xavier score late in the fourth quarter. Trinity's Stein was a leader and enjoys the pressure of playing QB. I don't have official stats available, but I can say this is one of the more lopsided victories in this series at the JV level. Back up QB Smith had a tough day. Back up QB Bennett looked better. Linebackers Whiting and Netherton played well as did DG Bishop.

A St. Xavier teacher told me that the sophomore skill players at St. Xavier elected not to play in this game. He has been at St. Xavier for 25 years. I trust what he tells me.

Sounds like they put it on my Tigers. I am so tired of the "who plays who discussion." I don't care if Seniors play. I would love to see X play a kid like Zoeller that could use the experience in big game. I thought he played a great game in last year's JV game.

When is the Freshman game? I have heard Trinity fans are very confident based on the Moeller game.

Did not go tho this game but it looks like the rocks played well. I know Zlatan is a good one, surprised to hear X kicking game off for JV. I also think little petrino could be more impressive than nick in time

Hopefully this fri game will be more of a game, I really don't like seeing blowouts when watching my 2 favorite teams

I want to make a note that Trinity held out a significant number of sophomore "studs". I've been hearing it already how the only reason Trinity wins these games is because we play juniors. Its not our fault St. X doesnt give the juniors that dont play much on varsity experience in the JV game..but to say thats the reason T won tonight is downright wrong. Trinity won because they out physicalled St. X tonight...bottom line

Yes, Stein, Whiting and Pitrino never play nor does that running back. dream on, you guys won point blank and that is fine. X reserves the right to play the kids that seldom play on fridays to get them better.

Believe what you will DJ is still hurt had his knee drained last week and Duece plays too much on fridays as you will see this week.

It appears that ST X changed their policy for this game, there were several Juniors that played today, on the o/l and the d/l, or maybe these kids were held back and several of the St. X soph were red shirted at their grade school.

What was the problem with St. X defensive tackle # 90 he seemed to want to talk trash most of the game and he even tried to start something with the Trinity Kicker {common a kicker vs a defensive tackle) and several other players but he didn't appear to want to mess with his opponet on the line I think it was # 51 or #58.

Trinity just played great today, their second great win this season, the first was a win against Moeller.

One on dline and it is his first year playing and 2 on Oline who were moved there recently. These guys never play on Fridays.

What running back? Sophmore JaMar Kirsey that may get some time behind Phillips and Neagli? Phillips and Neagli are both underclassman as well and they didn't play Monday. I think you may be the one dreaming, but don't let me wake you. I'll just continue to watch the Rocks win titles.

It was reported by the X faithful on here in recent weeks that DJ had an ankle injury. Is it his knee? or both? Wow, the kid is having a tough year.

Duece, like fellow sophmore Tim Phillips from Trinity, will play key roles in Friday's game. So whats your point?

But they are juniors, correct?

I may be way off base, but most posts on this JV game sound as if they could be from the thread on last year's state final...excuses, excuses, excuses. My kid will probably end up going to T, but not because of what happens this Friday. It IS only a football game.

It seems to me that the T fans accepted defeat last Sept. far better than X fans ever do. Bash me if you will, but that is my take.

(And for the record I've picked X to win on Friday.)

In no way shape or form are we (HHS Fans) claiming HHSDad. Believe it or not, there are other schools that start with an 'H'.(I know, hard to believe) Take Male, for instance...:D

This "junior" talk never gets old. It's almost as predictable as the sun coming up each morning.

I didn't do well in math at school, but 16 is more than 11. Seems like the jv method employed by the school with 16 titles works better than the other method. But hey, let's not forget that "X reserves the right to play the kids that seldom play on fridays to get them better".

Some of you guys amaze me with your ability to not see the big picture of this week and look like children on this site. I am so tired of hearing about who plays who.

I wish X would attack this game with a fully loaded gun , but I am not a coach and we won last year so maybe it can work sometimes.

Both sides are vaild reasons for doing what they do. I understand and appreciate that Glaser and Trinty have a different approach to this game and week. Both are fine but I will still take Glaser any day.
