Trinity 38 St.X 7 (JV)

Featured Replies

I feel so deprived! I'll never understand!

One of the interesting "lowlights" of my high school experience was a knife fight after a rivalry football game, causing the powers-that-be to schedule the remaining games on Saturday afternoons rather than on Friday nights. Makes the Trinity-X banter seem tame by comparison.

Our commando teams are so stealthy you'd never know they were there.

If our cloning program could make football players that good. Just think of the bionic commandos we could create!

Exactly what I said. X won every Pride Week game between Monday and September 26, 2003.

OK, but usually a streak starts with a win, not the day after a loss. I would think that they swept pride week in 04 and 05 would be the way to put it. But if you want to bring up a year that Trinity actually defeated St.X in varsity football not once but twice, by all means lets all remember 2003.

Sorry LSU for coming off kind of snobby. Still just frustrated. But I also understand that Trinitys JV had four practices for themselves just to prepare for St. X and had a scouting report as well. Of course, I will get the replys saying "well X could have done that too" and yes they could have but it would have been very diffifult and some players don't have enough time to do that with balancing schoolwork with football, so to put it into perspective, yes Trinity played juniors, as did St. X, Trinity just played more and theirs made a bigger impact on the game and thats how they come out with a win. If people realize this fact we could stop complaining and actually go plack to talking about the thing that is really important here, HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL.

Your info is laughable. Trinity's JV never practices as a unit. Actually that is something that used to be bragged about at X that X actually had seperate JV practice etc. Scouting report? Who scouted them? This is beyond laughable. A wise old (he'll get mad at me for that) X-man once told me that "at St.X we don't have wins and losses, we have wins and should have wons". I guess he was telling the truth.

You're way off base here if you think that Trinity puts football above academics.

At Trinity's Shamrock Awards every September, there are MANY football players who recieve their academic award each year for having made Honor Roll all for quarters the previous year. I would know. My son played and received Shamrock awards all 4 years. At graduation in May, I was witness to the names of most of the senior players having received scholarships to some very prestigious schools....but 90% of those scholarships were academic.

So, to put it in perspective, there are different ways to achieve success. I'm not putting down X's way. I'm just trying to enlighten you in the realities of the scenario at Trinity.

As a former parent I felt compelled to dispell the implication.

Some of you are making me absolutely sick. The only people that are making peolple really upset are BGP rookies who have NO IDEA what really goes on.

RP, I was just trying to bring some humor the "serious" situation. No need to get so worked up.

To paraphrase AI: "We're talking about JV. JV. C'mon, man, we're talking about JV."

I know Trinity/St. Xavier JV and Freshmen games have more fans in the stands than many local schools do for their varsity games. So, yes, JV and Frosh games are taken seriously.

Petrino does not currently start on varsity. He is a sophmore that needs all the game reps he can get to be ready when he does get a chance to start. I say again, he is a non-starting sophmore. Stein doesn't even start as a junior WR. He will be called upon some day in a pressure situation to play QB and JV game experience will help him be prepared.Stein is Trinity's second string QB, as was X's Zoeller last year. If I recall, Zoeller started for X's JV all last year. I watched the entire X/HHS game and Trevor came in after the starter left witha minor injury according to the broadcast guy. He made a tackle on the very next play, thats why I knew it was him. Sorry, I didn't count the snaps that he played but he did come right in during the first half of the game, not garbage time.

HE started and played the entire game @ Southern last Friday, until the subs came in at Safety.

Great, thats news to me. He must be ahead of schedule on his development on defense. When the season started he was considered in the rotation of WRs. A few weeks ago he was issued a green practice jersey, which makes him a defense first player. I figured he would start before the season was out, but I'm glad for him that he is a quick learner. I'm sure he was aided by the experience of playing in JV contests. I bet his Dad will be proud that both boys are starters on the defending state championship Trinity Shamrocks.:thumb:

If you and your other fans feel good about it that is all that matters. Win at all costs continues....

I like and appreciate the way we do it even if it causes us to only have 11.

I sort of like what this says. Let me see if I can put what you are saying another way. When we win it is because we put to much emphasis on winning. When you win it is because of, what, moral superiority? Give me a break.

He made no effort to say he does not play varsity contributors in JV games. Good for him they won and lost. Won the game with better players but lost track of the purpose of high school athletics. That is why I will take Glaser any day over Beatty. He has the attitude I want in my high school coach, it is about the kids!

Go Tigers

I did not say it was right or wrong just that I think Beatty has more of a college philosophy in running his program. This is an opinion site, correct? I just feel Glaser is a better fit for what X values. We value more than football titles. Don't get me wrong, Glaser and X want them badly.

BGP annual fee: $15

Internet connection: $30

Reading St. X education, values, morals, junior excuses: Priceless
