  1. The Litratings never did appear in the CJ this week. I wonder if they caught so much flak about Male & St. X being ahead of Trinity that they just said "forget it" and didn't print it at all, hoping that the internet flak would be all that they got.
  2. Was this a Male decision or an organizers' decision? To not let a number of players of the caliber of the ones on Male's team not play when their season is over seems like a real screw-up!
  3. pond, 2A championship will be played at Papa John's on Friday, 12/1, at 11:30AM.
  4. Ya know, LSU, you're probably right! I think a reader who posted on the CJ site said it best..."Trinity is now the Rodney Dangerfield of 4-A football"!!
  5. I guess ol' Dr. Lit is trying to say that Male and St. X nearly won the state this year.
  6. GR8, the tackler was #9, Agyei (Ah-jay) Williams. Hats off to you guys, that was one hell of a game! The REAL State Championship.
  7. I told you so too...LOL!
  8. It's supposed to be on AM 900 WFIA.
  9. Jody's prediction is Male 49, Trinity 35. It's in "The Book" (page C6) and is at the bottom of the "Games of the Week" listing.
  10. There were around 250-300 left yesterday afternoon around 1PM.
  11. Jody picked Male, so I guess that cancels them out. I'll take a Rocks win by 1 point, that's all I need.
  12. Trinity athletic office is open from 8-3:30. As of this afternoon (Wed) they had under 1,000 tickets left for sale from their original allocation.
  13. At least it was quiet in the cemetery.
  14. Lighten up, Francis. I'm not talking about having a game in the lap of luxury. I'm talking about the basics of security and health. And I don't know where you assume that anyone is "selfish" because I never mentioned that in my original post. Where did that come from?
  15. Believe me, fellas, I'll be there plenty early. But my statement hasn't been addressed. This crowd will be larger than the crowd last week, and evidently Male couldn't handle the folks who showed up. What will happen this week? And I don't mean the score.
  16. I don't care where the game is played. All I ask for is the following: Adequate security. Adequate food. Adequate drink. Adequate concession stands. Adequate seating. Adequate parking. Adequate bathroom facilities. Adequate PA system. From what I understand from more than one of my X friends, many of the above were sorely lacking last Friday night. If Male wants to host the game, are they up to running it in a proper manner?
  17.
  18. Might be their prerogative but they will turn away probably 10,000 fans. And will their AD be willing to a) lose that much revenue and b) tick off that many fans? Also, the parking situation at Male is not conducive to that large of a crowd. You can't park cars along Preston Highway and in the lots of businesses around the school.
  19. This is true, Papa John's is available if needed. And believe me, the teams that play at Papa John's during playoff time do not get to use the stadium as a courtesy. The four teams that played last weekend (X, Manual, Ballard & Seneca) split the rental cost equally.
  20. Wasn't the Holy Cross loss that year the one that broke the 50-game win streak?
  21. I will never forget that game. Shaun Alexander had been quoted in the CJ all week previous to the game that Boone County was going to beat Trinity for the title. On game day, Boone County's busses had parked right up against the U of L football building at Old Cardinal Stadium where the dressing rooms were. After the game, there was a crush of media waiting for interviews with young Shaun. All of the Boone County players (except Shaun) had come out and gotten on the bus and the media was still there. When Shaun came out he had a towel over his head and was flanked by 5 or 6 state troopers who escorted Shaun to the bus without his saying a word to the assembled reporters. It was later the next week when Shaun said maybe he shouldn't have spoken so freely the week before. Glad to see that a Kentucky high-schooler turned into a first-class NFL player.
  22. PN Week 7 Regional Players and National Coach of the Week Jamie DeMoney, PrepNation Editor and Publisher FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: PREPNATION.COM SELECTS REGIONAL PLAYERS, COACH OF THE WEEK October 18, 2006 KANSAS CITY, Mo. - PrepNation.com -- the online home of the National Prep Poll and the PrepNation 101 All-American Team -- has named its Week 6 regional players of the week and national coach of the week for the 2006 high school football season. NORTHEAST Mike Mele (RB/LB) Manasquan (N.J.) Mele, a 6-1, 205-pound senior, ran 36 times for 261 yards and four touchdowns in a 42-6 win over previously unbeaten Point Pleasant Boro. He is averaging 9.2 yards per carry this season and leads a defense that is allowing opponents less than 70 yards rushing per game. EAST COAST A.J. Green (WR) Summerville (S.C.) Green had 10 catches for 175 yards and two touchdowns to help East Coast No. 7 Summerville escape with a 43-36 win over upset-minded Beaufort. Green, a junior who has verbally committed to Georgia, has 39 catches for 784 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. SOUTHEAST Cameron Harris (QB) Astronaut (Titusville, Fla.) Harris was out of this world during Astronaut's 47-6 rout of Satellite. Harris, a 5-9, 180-pound senior, accounted for all 269 yards of his team's offense in the first half as the War Eagles built a 28-6 lead. For the game, Harris had 243 yards rushing on 25 carries and 174 yards on 13-of-18 passing with four total touchdowns. MIDWEST Nick Petrino (QB) Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) Petrino, a 5-10 185-pound senior, completed 20 of 29 passes for 388 yards and five touchdowns in a 48-7 rout of Ballard. Petrino, the son of University of Louisville coach Bobby Petrino, completed passes to seven different receivers. MIDLANDS Scott Concannon (RB) Rock Bridge (Columbia, Mo.) Concannon ran for 324 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries (41 average) to lead Midlands No. 4 Rock Bridge to a 48-0 rout of crosstown rival Hickman. Concannon, a 5-10, 185-pound senior, has verbally committed to Northwestern. SOUTHWEST Brett Hardin (QB) East Poinsett County (Lepanto, Ark.) Hughes running back Kendric Smith stole the national headlines for scoring a state-record nine touchdowns in this 73-72 overtime win for East Poinsett County, but Hardin actually had the more prolific performance -- and his team won the game. Hardin, a junior, had an incredible 836 all-purpose yards. He carried the ball 25 times for 206 yards and three touchdowns. He completed 16 of 36 passes for 306 yards and one score. He also had eight kickoff returns for 324 yards (41 average), including one that went for an 81-yard touchdown. WEST COAST Shane Vereen (RB) Valencia (Calif.) Vereen, a 5-10, 180-pound senior, ran for a school-record 354 yards on just 14 carries (25 average) and scored six touchdowns as the Vikings blasted Golden Valley, 58-7. The previous school record was set by Manuel White, who played at UCLA and is now with the Washington Redskins. NATIONAL COACH OF THE WEEK Bob Crable - Moeller (Cincinnati) Crable and staff prepared the Crusaders for a dominating 26-0 upset win over Harrisburg (Pa.). For the game, Harrisburg could muster only 30 net yards of total offense. The Cougars, who entered the game ranked No. 22 in the National Prep Poll, had been averaging 347 yards and 43 points per game. Moeller, now 5-2, nearly upset No. 11 Byrnes (Duncan, S.C.) earlier in the season. Two more Top 25 tests await (St. Edward on Oct. 21 and St. Xavier on Oct. 27) and could eventually launch Moeller into the national rankings. Crable, a former Moeller star player who later played in the NFL, is 43-23 in his sixth season as head coach. ### (The Newark Star-Ledger, Florida Today, Louisville Courier-Journal, Columbia Tribune, Dave Krider, and KHTS-AM radio were consulted in compiling this report.)
  23. That is correct, LSU. Even if a team is up by more than 45 in the first half the clock can't run continuously until the second half. I'm just glad KY doesn't have that stupid new rule that CT is using this year where if a team wins by more than 50 the head coach is suspended for the next game.
  24. Trinity has 6 or 7 of the Trinity Singers on the field singing "America the Beautiful" and "God Bless America" while honored guests take the flag onto the field and give it to members of the Senior Class Flag Corps, who then take it over to the flagpole at the entrance gate and prepare it for raising. When it's ready, the Singers sing the National Anthem while the flag is slowly raised up the flagpole. The flag reaches the top of the pole just as the Singers finish the anthem. Beautiful and chilling to see. Then it's time for the coin toss and "Go Rocks"!
