BROOKS PLEASED WITH UK-UofL DATE
Kentucky and Louisville announced on Tuesday that the Wildcats and Cardinals would play this year's game on Sunday, Aug. 31, at 3:30 p.m. ET with the game broadcast nationally on ESPN.
There had been discussion about moving the game to the evening of Monday, Sept. 1, an option UK balked at due to concerns over a short turnaround for the following week's game against Norfolk State.
"You have to remember two things," Brooks said. "If we play an 8 o'clock game on Monday night, we get home maybe at 2, 3 o'clock in the morning. We have a real short night. We have practice and class the next day. It's just not a real good scenario for a turnaround for your players, and you're beat up going into the next game.
"In this situation we play at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon, we'll get home at a reasonable time, and we'll have Monday to get the game behind us. That will give us three good days of practice on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I just feel a lot more comfortable with that. And we're still on ESPN and we're still going to get very good coverage. That's what it's all about."
