  1. Newton and Moss will be battle and compete against each other for the starting qb job if Newton does committ to the Cats as expected. Both will be better qb's in the long run if they compete against each other in college. Both kids are big-time qb's and it will be nice to finally have two players with the talents that these two kids have to push each other every day in pratice. Of course all of this is still in question because Newton has a lot of good options and may go in another direction....Though I will be very surprised if he chooses another school. All the other schools on his list have big time qb's in the program and will continue to land big-time qb's whether Newton chooses their school or not...That's Big-Time SEC Football.
  2. Newton will be a Cat next week imo...
  3. Yes...I'm pretty sure he did start for the Dawgs as a true freshman. As far as the UK QB Situation...I think Hartline is capable and will be the starting qb when the Cats take the field at the Pizza Box. Cobb will get a few snaps via designed plays just for him under center, and will see some time at WR imo. He is too talented to stand on the sideline holding a clipboard 90% of the offensive plays.
  4. Ridge Wilson-3-Star LB/DE-Louisville Central Duece Finch-3-Star-RB-Louisville St. Xavier Both will be Cats imo...
  5. No doubt...Chuck Smith did a great job recruiting Simpson. He was allready close to the family, which I'm sure didn't hurt. When you have offers from the likes of Bama, Tennessee, Auburn, UVA, etc. family connections and relationships don't always win out. This time it did and props to Coach Smith...
  6. From what I have heard Greene is no longer a UK commitment...The Cats pulled his scholly.
  7. Another Awesome pickup for the Cats!!:ylsuper:
  8. Reynolds didn't take long to verbal to the Sooners after receiving the offer from them..Congrats to him. Growing up in Big XII Country, I'm sure it was too good for him to pass on. I really believe he would have been a Cat had the Sooners not offered...Can't land them all though.
  9. It appears it will come down to Virginia and Kentucky for Simpson's services. Matt Jones says he is hearing he will announce this week for Kentucky. Others are saying he is going to UVA. UVA is a great school and you can't blame him if he picks the Cavs. Having said that I hope he chooses to stay home for college and play for the Cats. Matt Smith has been moved to Center from the DL, and supposely looks good there. If Simpson does choose UVA, the Cats should still be good to go at the center position with Jorge Gonzalez and Matt Smith both being underclassmen. Simpson is regarded as one of the top centers in the 09 class though and the Cats need to keep that kind of talent home. Will be interesting to see if he picks the Cats or Cavs this week...or pulls a surprise and goes with Bama or another SEC power.
  10. I read the same thread and got the same vibe as you...Can you imagine a class for the Cats that includes Moss and Newton? We'll have to see how it plays out with Newton. I really like the Cats chances of adding Deuce Finch, Sam Simpson, and Ridge Wilson to the class...3 instate kids that the Cats should sign. Jamal Patterson is probably Stanford bound, but I would love for the Cats to add him to this class. Jaz Reynolds, Justin Isadore, Willie Jefferson, and Julius Forte are 4 out of state players that the Cats are in good position with and would be very nice additions to this class.
  11. Moss said in an article at TCP that his two finalist were Kentucky and Alabama. Here is a small piece... Coming off a junior season which saw him throw for 2,963 yards and 19 touchdowns, Mossakowski picked the Cats over scholarship offers from Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, Texas A&M, Alabama, Auburn and Clemson, among others. He had recently narrowed his choice down to UK, Auburn, Alabama and Texas A&M, making unofficial visits to each school this summer in hopes of reaching a decision prior to the start of his senior season. "I originally wanted to do it a couple of days before kickoff," he said, "but I just felt like the time was right. I knew that Kentucky was the right place for me." Mossakowski said his final decision came down to UK and Alabama. "Either one would have been a good fit for me," he said, "but I felt like God was leading me toward Kentucky. My heart was leading me to Kentucky.
  12. According to Rivals and Scout all the teams listed did offer, though Auburn withdrew their offer recently. Here is a quote from Moss to confirm his committment... "I made my decision," Mossakowski said. "I called up the coaches and told them my decision. I'm going to the University of Kentucky. I actually made the call last night and then I decided that I was going to sleep on it just to make sure it was the right decision. I woke up in the morning and felt the same way I did before so I called up Coach Brinson and told him."
  13. Mossakowski has offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Colorado, Clemson, and Oregon. Rivals ranks him as the 13th best prospect in Texas and the 5th best Pro-Style QB in the 09 class...
  14. Larry Vaught is reporting that 4-star QB Ryan Mossakowski has committed to the Cats. If true this is huge... http://www.amnews.com/public_html/?module=displaystory&story_id=42941&format=html
  15. Aaron Boyd has been diagnosed with mono and will be out 4-6 weeks. This might lead to a RS for Boyd...
  16. I think Cobb has what it takes to be a QB at the High D-1 Level. His video clips on Rivals are very impressive and his arm strength appears to be much stronger than I anticipated. Being a true freshman would obiviously hurt his chances this year at QB, but the kid is capable I fully expect Hartline to take the job and run with it, but if not Cobb would be my next choice...Sure there would be growing pains this season but with him umder center the next few years would be exciting. Cobb is a stud and will be a star at UK, whether it be WR or QB.
  17. Pulley has had numerous chances since he came to Lexington, and he has not taken advantage of those. I wish him the best, and hopefully he will find a school to both display his talents on the football field and complete his degree. Michael Hartline is capable and will lead the Cats to their 3rd straight bowl game. Kudos to Brooks.
  18. Tristan Johnson committed to the Cats today. He is the Cats 14th verbal in the 09 class, 9 of which are rated 3-stars on Rivals.
  19. Griiffey with a RBI single with his first AB with the ChiSox...
  20. Georgia and Florida are both going to be very good this year. The game in Jacksonville this year should be a dandy.
  21. A lot of credible posters at TCP seem to think it is but Matt is usally on top of things UK related...regardless I look for both to be eligible this upcoming year.
  22. Word over at TCP is that UK got the word today that both Liggins and Galloway are eligible and good to go...
  23. Griffey has been my favorite player for a long time. It is sad for me atleast to see him leave Cincy. Having said that...It's time to move on and go in another direction. I'm excited about the young players we have right now, and hopefully the Reds will resign Dunn and try to build a winner around him, Bruce and the young guns in the rotation.
  24. I hate... Louisville USC Florida Miami, FL USCjr...South Carolina
