Mayfield 56 Ballard Memorial 22

49 - Love at the half

Great game by the Cardinals. Ballard left their starters in for the whole game and scored all their points on our JV team.

Great job by the Cards in coming out focuses against an outmanned Ballard team, and now the Big Red Machine can focus their attention on Murray for the 2nd round. Mayfield's defense has really stepped up their play the 2nd half of the season and looks to be on a roll heading into playoffs.

I like what I have seen tonight, we could have used some better hands on some of the receptions. I have a couple of questions for you cards fans that may be closer to the players and coaches than I. What is the deal with McNutt? Is he having a problem kicking a cold ball or is something else up? And I am wondering about Andy Trevarthen, why he isn't getting the ball any more than he is. I am hoping that coach is just holding out some of these players so we don't show much to the other teams scouting us for the playoffs. I know that Adam is not getting his number called near as much as in games past. Anybody have any info for me?

when you play who the cards have to play until the roll into Bardstown and/or Danville then why risk injury with your best players? The Cards were beating Ballard 49 to 0 at half without their best players getting any touches - sounds OK to me.

McNutt just had an off night. I talked to his Dad and he said nothing was wrong.

Coach Morris said that Andy wants the ball more but with 3 good running backs and two good fullbacks there is a certain amount of plays that each can get. He said that it also helps out our defense because all five backs play defense and with not having to be in on offense so much they are not as tired

Coach also said that there was no need to call Adam as much right now with the way that the team is moving the ball

These stats are way misleading...Mayfield had 265 yds at the half compared to 7 for Ballard and -6 rushing...The entire 2nd half was played with the JV and freshmen and even the last series of the 1st half...Can't blame Coach Morris, though...Why risk an injury when the games in hand..Theres still alot of football to be played..

4 of Ballards 1st downs were on penalities...I was wondering the same thing about McNutt. I think he needs to keep a ball near the heaters...Then it wouldn't be so hard!

Good effort by the Cards, no offense to Ballard, but this score could have been like 100-0...Mayfield took a knee to end the first half...What about that score by Chance Sherrill on 4th & 23...that middle screen use to be a huge weapon for Mayfield!

On to Murray!

Congrats Mayfield!!!

Good luck against Murray...It looks like the Cards are gonna make another deep run in the playoffs and be a serious player for another state title...thats a real shocker..lol.

Mayfield has a great program that puts a good team on the field about every year.

It is quite exciting having this many young backs on this team isn't it? Now if we could just get a good solid QB we are going to be set for the years to come.

They also return alot of good young linemen....I agree, if they can replace Shelton at the QB spot(which won't be easy), they could really be strong these next 2 years...
