I really need some help! We have been trying for over a week to get a roster for the Wayne Co. Boys Basketball team. I am working a game tonight and have had zero luck in getting a roster. If someone, anyone could help, I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Hope he is OK. I got to see him play vs. Southwestern. What a competitor. I really enjoyed watching him hustle on both ends of the floor. I have been trying to tell people all season long that McC would be a factor in the 12th region. All I keep hearing is Lincoln, Lincoln, Boyle, Lincoln. I think the 12th is wide open come tounament time.

I am surprised that this question has not been discussed more. I see probably 40-50 HS games a year and this is a very common occurance. A loose ball on the floor almost always results in a player or two or three diving onto a pile as if they are trying to recover a fumbled football. I too have to ask why this kind of physical play is allowed. I have seen time after time kids get banged up in those situations. I have to agree with the OP that it seems as though the game has gotten more and more physical over the past several years.

It has happened before. Involved Girls BB and a very talented, high profile player.

Southwestern only had 55 offensive plays (34 pass) however the officials "dillydallied" every time there is a penalty called. Three hours is way too long for a HS football game. I agree, that I want them to get it right, however not every penalty calls for a conference. As far as more penalties being called you could say that about any game. How many times has it been said that there is "holding on every play?" This crew had a tough time making the definitive decision. The best example was following a 10 yard run by Wooldridge that went out of bounds on the PC sideline. The ball was picked up and thrown to the hash. Then the officials look at it and try to decide if its a first down or not. After 10-15 seconds of discussion the ball is picked up again and moved half way between the hash and the sideline. The Ref. then looks at it again, starts to signal for the chains and stops. He then walks out between the hash marks, looks at the ball then the chains a couple of times and finally turns and signals a first down. The ball is then tossed back to the hash mark and the chains are moved. This whole process took about 2.5-3 minutes and we did not even measure. I am really sick of seeing officials throw the ball around 2 or 3 times before they measure. And I have seen it at least 4 times in the last two seasons. As far as the call for the push in the back, the player himself said he took a dive and that he was not touched, brilliant move on his part and I don't fault the official for the call, because he called what he saw. I understand and agree with you about the SW parent.

SW was definitely outplayed in all aspects of the game. SW was able to stay in the game somewhat, but PC was in control the whole night. PC does need to eliminate the penalties, I will have to say there were a couple of calls they probably did not deserve. Was it me or did it take a long time to play that game? 3hrs. is way to long for a HS football game. I have never seen an officials crew that looked so out of sorts. Every flag they had to have a conference. Just seemed like they were never in a hurry. Oh well. SW needs to get back to fundamental football. Blocking & Tackling.

As a Somerset supporter you as much as anyone should be tired of beating dead horses. Now back to the game. I am going to say that PC wins in a close one.

Must have been green mold on the dirt.:confused: I was on the field prior to the game and yes their was green dirt. Not all of the dirt was green. The field was in bad shape. But it was playable and I saw two great games.

Do officials get paid for scrimmages? I thought they used the time to pre-pare for the season. SW had 10-12 officials at the Russell Co. scrim. They worked at different positions. I saw one "white hat" working as a Line-Judge while someone else handled the Head Man job. I don't like when people are charged for a scrimmage. I was wondering what the KHSAA stand is on the subject. I don't mind a charge if the money goes to some charity or scholarship fund. However, the comment about it only being $3 or $5 bothers me a bit. If someone has 2 or 3 kids, you start to talk about some real money. I have always said that kids 12 and under should be allowed in at NO charge with a paying adult. Get your Jr. High and Elem. kids to the games. Get them excited about supporting their high school. JMHO.

If I am not mistaken, that '94 victory for SWHS was at the Renfro Valley Bowl. Very exciting game. One of only 4 SW games I have missed since the beginning. Had knee surgery that day and the wife hid my crutches so I would not try to sneak over to the game. It is hard to believe that so many other contest have been blow outs. I am sure this next game is going to be a dogfight. Serious contact and well coached on both sides. I am going to give the Warriors a slight edge. 27-25 I also believe the Somerset - PC will be better than some expect. I think PC is much improved but will they have an answer for the Jumpers high powered offense? Jumpers by 10

Personally, I love the idea of a three game Correll Bowl on Saturday. Bring in some marquee teams and make a whole day (Celebration) of the whole thing.. Financially, I agee that home and home every year would be a real financial boost to all the teams. Add that to a three game Correll Bowl and think of gate reciepts for those two dates per school.
