Is admission to High School Football Scrimmages Free?

Featured Replies

Just curious. The Ashland at Mason County scrimmage later this week is free. Is it standard practice to charge admission to scrimmages, or not? Sorry if I'm repeating an earlier thread.

Ashland at Campbell County last week was a dollar or a can good, all went to charity.

I've seen some charge and some not. A lot of times when you have multi-team scrimmages there may be a fee.

No charge at Southwestern High School. I do like the idea of can good donations for the needy or toys for the Kids...;)

I have heard of some scrimmages costing $5, it usually has two different teams scrimmaging. One I went to had both games going a little over 2 quarters.

I've been to some basketball scrimmages that charge "soap and a towel." Any football scrimmages do the same thing?

Last Saturday I attended the Pulaski County Youth League and was charged $3 to see my Grandson scrimmage 10 offensive and 10 defensive plays. All school teams within the league(8) were positioned to play on half the field. There are 3 divisions from each school(peewee. jrs., srs.). Parents and Grandparents flocked to see their kids play. When I left there was a line of cars 1/4 mi. long. This was rediculous. The youth League really GOUGED the community and it was not right. I hope they get alot of negative feedback as a result ...:fight:

I heard Marshall County charged $5 for adults and $3 for students for a two-team scrimmage last week. Union County charged $4 for a two-team scrimmage.

This past weekend at Frankfort scrimmage it cost 3 dollars to get in... and no concessions...

That was to help off set the cost of feeding the teams.

I don't mind charging, but I'd make it $2 for adults, $1 for students and free for kids under five.

From what I hear tell, Trinity charges $3 for scrimmages. Not too bad a price in my opinion. Free is preferable, but $3 won't break the bank.

Most of the scrimmages in NKY are $5 and are played as the annual Tom Potter Classic with the proceeds going for education.

Russell asks for donations only

Aren't the proceeds supposed to go toward scholarships for local players given out at the all-star game?
