Not at all, I thought because he is from there, he would be the next pick, behind Billy of course. He seems to want to run his basketball program after his uncle, Which is a good thing if you have the talent pool Billy has.

Dont be making fun of people who ride the short bus. It may come back on you in the future. I will say that Rose Hill as far as I have seen has the hardest schedule of anyone in the 16th region. Yes they are young but the only way to improve is to play stronger teams. My hat is off to them. What good does it do to win every game by 50 if you know going in that you are the better team. Yes Elliott is the best team in the region, (there I said it.) But are they satisfied where they are, or would it help them to play a harder schedule????? You don't have to win every game to improve.

I heard Jim Bob Hicks will be the next coach. Anyone else heard this????

I think Greenup will win this one!!! Greenup can score points, There defense on the other hand needs some work. It is very early in the season but once they learn to rotate, and anticipate the long pass, and the weak side busting there butt to get back on defense, and everyone crashing the boards they will surprise a lot of people. I understand that the quicker the other team shoots the ball, the quicker greenup gets a chance to score, but Greenup needs to limit the second, third and forth put backs. GO GREENUP!!!!! It is fun to watch. Again the show they put on is great, but controlled chaos is better than uncontrolled chaos. GO GREENUP

Where is Marshall County from what region and district?????

No disrespect to the Bath County players at all. My question is did Bath Co. play this team last year?? I have only heard of this team one other time. I think, quote me if I'm wrong tried to be scheduled last year at the Greenhouse.

I have heard different stories about what happened to get the fan thrown out of the game. Can someone that knows please inform us of the facts not rumors??????

The measure of a good competitor or coach is someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to win. At the beginning of the season Greenup coaches thought Passing the ball 90% of the time was their best bet, But after 5 or 6 games thought they would try a more balanced offense. They didn't know if it would work or not but they knew they had to try something. For all you people thinking coach Sammons didn't want to win..... I have known him since grade school and whether it was on the baseball field, the basketball court, or the football field I have never questioned his desire to win... My hat is off to you COACH SAMMONS you took Greenup to a DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!:dancingpa:dancingpa

As far as you saying "the kids loved him" asked some past players..... and as far as his four straight winning seasons.......take a look back at the schedules they played. Don't take a genius to figure that one out:lol: I hope the kids have a great year at Bath Co. and your statement about Coach Hicks having your program at the top of the 16th.....looking forward to seeing your schedules in the future. If they had won every game, but the coach was a "donkey" would YOU feel better?? How coach Sammons punishes the boys is his decision as long as he is forthright and honest about it. I dont know the whole story,( and truth be known you dont either), but if one of my Players came back on the field and threw a helment after being ejected, he would not be on the team any longer. As Major Pain would say (why dont you pop your "boobie" out the boys mouth and let him grow up). Just Kidding. I know as a parent that you want the best for your kids, but winning or losing should not determine that. Sportmanship, Honesty, Loyalty, Pride, Heart and most of all Fun should be what Playing sports is all about not Wins or Losses.

OK Here is my 2 cents. Greenup Co. is a class 3A school with a 1A sports program. Now don't shoot me yet Greenup fans, let me explain. Everyone complains that it is the coach,it is the addministration, it is the kids, it is south shore vs. wurtland. I dont think any of this is true. You cant tell me that the Greenup kids dont want to win eveytime they step on the Gridiron or the basketball floor. Now back to my first statement. Back in the Late 70's and early 80's Greenup had 11 elementary's, that is 11 basketball teams, which if my math is right 11 x 10 players min. per team = 110 players that have played basketball on a team since the 5th grade. Once they enter high school that is a large number to choose from as freshman. Now organized ball dont start until 7th grade, because people thought is was to much emotional damage to a 5th or 6th grader to have to set the bench if he or she was not good enough to play. Dont get me wrong I have coached many years and belive every kid should have the chance to play, but every kid should EARN their chance to play also. we have took away the competitive drive to acheive because we as parents dont want to see little johnny feelings hurt. Back to the problem as i see it. Now there are 2 8th grade basketball programs in the Greenup system. 2x10=20 Freshman with basketball expericence. instead of 110. Greenup County started closing schools out in the county to schools closer to US23. you can not expect a parent of a good athlete say in warnock or danelyton to drive there kids in grade school up to 45min. each way to play sports. When they get in high school and get lucky enough to have a car, where thet can drive theirself, they are to far behind to catch up fundamentley with the rest of their class. I used basketball as a example buy it goes the same for football. Most of Raceland and Fairview kids can probably walk to school and to PRACTICE every day. But everyone always says Little Raceland or Little Fairview should not be able to play with a much larger Greenup Co. but in reality they have as big if not bigger sports program than Greenup. Sorry to ramble on Just my 2 cents!!!!

Slick, it's time to get the sour grape taste out of your mouth. The Hick's saga is old news.:sleep: What's important is that we, as a community support the kids and the new coach that are there now. Let's not forget, it takes everyone surrounding the program to make it successful.
