3 Ashland ahead of Raceland because of their size

6 Fairview Had Ashland down by 10 with 5 min. to play

7 East Carter

8 West Carter

9 Morgan Co

10 Menifee Co

11 Russell

16 Greenup Co.

This is no slight to Greenup but West Carter JV beat them by 20 an I can't believe West could do that to another Varsity team in the 16th

From the reports I have been getting Lewis County will be a Top 10 team.

Saw Ashland and Fairview last night and it was like 85-78 Ashland. Very high intensity game with a lot of points.

I think it is Elliott and the Hill and then about 6-8 teams who could make some noise.

The program started going down hill after Hicks was suspended in December. Now the program is at an all time low. Thank the administration for that.

Summer games mean what?

Summer games mean what?

 

Very little. Most coaches are not out trying to win games. Instead, they are trying to develop new players and are rotating a larger number than what they will during the upcoming season. However, there are some coaches that are out to win every game and are not rotating players as such and games they typically would win by 20 they may actually lose on the scoreboard. In many cases, there are players missing games for various reasons which leaves some teams shorthanded. Summer ball is simply just that.

You still get an idea about a team, the coaches may not always play to win but they sure don't play to lose. In a close game see who they have in at the end.

Talent doesn't change much from summer to winter.

Yes but scouting, game prep, and having practice time with your team does.

Boyd must be in the same boat. They beat GC by 1 last night.

Summer basketball causes more arguments on BGP and in general because after every loss by a team, there immediately has to be an explanation...."We didn't have everybody, we didn't care, we were too hot, we don't have our press breaker in:D , we played combinations that we wouldn't normally play"

Summer basketball generally gives you an idea about your personnel and how talented you could be....the most important benefit of summer basketball is the chance for the players to play with each other and to develop a good team chemistry on the court. It's a good evaluation of your current talent in a competitive setting. I think summer games are good and important. But sometimes people can get too fired up or too down on their programs by how they are competing with teams in June.

Slick, it's time to get the sour grape taste out of your mouth. The Hick's saga is old news.:sleep: What's important is that we, as a community support the kids and the new coach that are there now. Let's not forget, it takes everyone surrounding the program to make it successful.
