East Carter had 2 starters out last night and GC had 3 or 4. GC threw McCall, Van Bibber and Perdue. EC threw Tyler Baier, Kyle Bair, and Tommy Carper. Neither team showed their top 3 or 4 guys. East put up 8 in the first and held on.

East was up 11-0 in the 5th and GC battled back to make it a game.

CONSULTING with a coach and VOTING the way they want are often 2 different things when the Principal/AD gets to a meeting and the coach isn't around.

Raceland looked pretty young. East was still without 6 players and 4 starters because of b-ball state tourney. EC threw 7 pitchers 1 inning each. Raceland will be ok as season goes on, just not much pitching it seemed.

So according to some one here GC will have 4 or 5 of the top 10 players in the region. They should have a run like Elliott Co. had in 2009. Are they invited to any big tourney's? Actually no one knows who the coach will be and those players are all unproven and have underachived so far.

I feel sorry for the rest of the kids in the region who were home today while East was playing in Rupp Arena. Congrats Raiders on a great season, and to Brandon Baker the KABC 16th Region Coach of the Year!!

East will be short-handed with 6 kids still playing basketball.

I believe if they had Shep available this year they would have been top 5, without him it is a big drop. He is the one guy who could go out and dominate a game against a good opponent. Everyone else on the staff is beatable on a given day.

East Carter also beat Christian Co. in the AIT, granted Wilson was out. Hickey kept Christian Co. in that game, he must have had 35-40.

I couldn't agree more, I was just stating that is the reason that the officials want to switch. I agree with you, let's do what's best for the kids, not the adults!

To answer your question the BIGGEST reason officials trade regions is so that the officials and the assigning secretary don't have to worry about "scratches" during the regional tournament!

Ashland lost 8 seniors from last years team that lost in the district 1st round. They will have to earn respect this year, they don't deserve a mention just yet.

GC may deserve a mention, but not Boyd Co. They are probably the 4th or 5th best team in region 16 without Arthur.

If they did that then they violated the KHSAA by-laws. If a team in seeded district chooses not to play they DO go down as forfeits and they are NOT allowed to schedule extra games. The other teams that they refuse to play in the district however ARE allowed to schedule extra games.

Looks like East's guards handled Ashland's pressure just fine!!! Most people didn't think they could.

They play it with however many they have in each region, doesn't matter. This region would have only had 6 had West and Russell not been added this year!

They don't do it like that anymore, there is no cutoff number of enrollment to be in the tournament. They simply invite the 125 smallest schools in the state by enrollment, if any if those schools decline to play (which obviously do!!!) then they move to the 126th smallest and so on until they have 125 schools in the tournament!!

Head to head is first, score DOES NOT matter, if they would have split and both teams would have ended 5-1 in the district then the ONLY other tiebreaker is a pill bottle draw for the 1 and 2 seeds, that's it!!
