Big Slick Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Third quarter scoring is the stat that jumps off the box score.

Michael Corleone Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 I for one am sick and tired of 16th region coaches taking teams to Lexington and see how little they can score. Outside of Elliott Co. the past three years 16th region teams simply try to bore the opponent and crowd to death. Brandon Baker is the new Steve Dodd. I feel sorry for the kids at East.
DragonFire Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 The reality is that East Carter simply could not hit a shot in the third quarter. They got a lot of open looks in the first half, and Central turned up the intensity in the third quarter. The few open shots East Carter had didn't drop, which just made it worse. Central did not play all that well, but were clearly a much better team. East Carter shot 60% in the first half and hit the only threes they would hit in the game during the first half, yet only led by 1. Central would have struggled to beat too many teams today, but I'm glad they could get the jitters of the return to Rupp out of their system. I sure do wish it wasn't Ballard waiting for them tomorrow. I just don't see them getting past them. Central is 0-5 in their history versus the Bruins, and already lost to them once this year, albeit without Shanklin. If Ballard shoots at all as well as they did today, Central is toast.

I feel sorry for the rest of the kids in the region who were home today while East was playing in Rupp Arena. Congrats Raiders on a great season, and to Brandon Baker the KABC 16th Region Coach of the Year!!

Congrats Raiders on a great season, and to Brandon Baker the KABC 16th Region Coach of the Year!! The Coach of the Year and all other 16th region awards are a joke. It's a good ole boys network. Theres probably some around the region that think Charlie Baker is stil the coach. If you need proof OJ Mayo was snubbed. Thats right the same guy that was all state and a future lottery pick could win the regional player of the year. Theres not more than 2 kids at East Carter that could possibly enjoying playing the way they play. If you go to Rupp let it rip.

DragonFire Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 22-2 in the 3rd quarter, what happened? IMO a combo of pressure causing turnovers, dead legs as the endurance of East Carter ran low, and just plain bad luck on some shots that just wouldn't drop.

How much better than Louisville Male is Warren Central, or vice versa?
DragonFire Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I did not see Louisville Male, so I can't really say. Central was more highly rated than Male, but that doesn't mean a lot, and Central has games they play like their ranking (Christian County) and others they don't. We'll see which one they have.
PurplePride92 Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 I'd love to see this Central team when Shanklin, Fant and Halcomb are all clicking together. I thought Fant rebounded well, but he was a non factor offensively. I hope he can have a good game against Ballard. I liked Shanklin and Halcomb a lot. Good to see a team from BG get a first round win even if it isn't the team named BG. :ylsuper: Good luck on Friday. I'll be there pulling for you guys.:thumb:
