The Coach of the Year and all other 16th region awards are a joke. It's a good ole boys network. Theres probably some around the region that think Charlie Baker is stil the coach. If you need proof OJ Mayo was snubbed. Thats right the same guy that was all state and a future lottery pick could win the regional player of the year.

You have to be a senior to win the KABC regional player award. Mayo wasn't eligible for it.

Theres not more than 2 kids at East Carter that could possibly enjoying playing the way they play. If you go to Rupp let it rip.

It's Brandon Baker's job to come up with a gameplan to give his team the best chance to win. It was successful for a half.

 

East Carter wouldn't have a snowball's chance if they "let it rip" with Warren Central.

The better team asserted intself in a big way with a 20pt push in the 3rd. Should be a great session on Friday afternoon!

I for one am sick and tired of 16th region coaches taking teams to Lexington and see how little they can score. Outside of Elliott Co. the past three years 16th region teams simply try to bore the opponent and crowd to death.

 

Brandon Baker is the new Steve Dodd. I feel sorry for the kids at East.

So your game plan would be to tell your team, "Alright boys I want you to go out there and weather you can get open for a good shot or not, shoot it in the first 10 seconds we have the ball. I don't care if they block your shot or not, just put it up on the rim. We're here to put on a show and get up and down the floor. When Warren Central runs out and dunks because they rebound or bad shots at least the crowd will be happy."

East played as well as they could the first half. The 2nd half they missed some open shots early and Warren Central took over like they should have. Their kids deserve some credit for 1- winning their region and 2 - making a better showing than most thought for the first half of this game.

He certainly struggled yesterday. Maybe we caught him on a bad day...

Barnhill probably had the worst offensive showing of the season on the biggest stage of the year. If your judging him on one game, then you dont know how good this youngster is. Im sure you will be seeing him more this year in some allstar games

I think that the defensive effort by both Fant and Barnhill contributed to both of their less than stellar offensive showings. They both worked so hard at defending each other that it pretty much wore them down on the offensive end. They more or less neutralized one another.

 

One thing that stuck out to me was just how much more physically imposing the WC athletes were compared to EC. The Raiders may need to focus a bit more on nutrition and the weight room?

 

As well as EC played in the first half they should have been up by 10 or 12 at the break.

 

I am sure that all in attendance felt the most talented team won the game.
