A big HR in the 2nd inning by Ryan Howell was the difference in this one. The NL pitchers could not figure out the ump's strike zone in this game. A little inconsistency by blue, imo. NL's defense made up for it though, throwing out a couple stealing, and also 2 at the plate. I don't think Mcwhorter liked his teams efforts in this one, hopefully they'll get their focus back today against Bryan Station. KCC has an excellent baseball coach. We've played them several years in a row now, and I always come away impressed with how he coaches his team.

I spoke to the Stuber family as well, and they told me it had no bearing on his quitting.

Great game by the Jaguars. Not close at all, until Clay scored 3 in the top of the 7th off a couple of errors and a big hit. Another good outing by starter Sean Evans, and a nice 2 run HR by DH Shawn Boroviak. NL is starting to show themselves as one of the best in the mountains, but there is a lot of baseball to go.

I agree that records can be deceiving, but Lawerence County got pounded 11-1 by a very mediocre Whitley County team.

I heard that Irwin was taking an OC job for a large high school in Alabama. This sounds like an excellent opportunity for him. He's got a very sharp offensive mind, and could use this to springboard his career. Good Luck to him, and to SL in the hiring of a good replacement. My guess is that DC Jim Brown would be the front runner.

This was a great trip for the Jaguars, they went 3-1, and beat some very good teams. Their only loss, to Ashland, was a 9 inning heartbreaker. The quality of teams at Cocoa is much better than what we've seen in the past at Ft.Walton. Hopefully this can propel them to another good season.

Actually NL only put 2 on the starting pitcher. The balance were on a guy that was brought in in the 6th.

I don't know the name of Boyd's pitcher, but I do know that he was hitting 90+ on the gun early on. Great comeback by the Jags in the 7th inning. As MT said, a great effort by NL senior pitcher, Ryan Howell.

Good game for the Jags, especially condsidering it was their first game, and had no scrimmages. Nice effort by NL's Sean Evans on the mound, going all 7 innings, and getting the win. Good defense for both teams, but NL had the timely hitting, and played "small ball" as well, laying down a few bunts. NL catcher Brice Hicks had a couple of hits, as did 3rd baseman Chris Maggard.
