Big district win for the Jaguars. Evans (4-0) got the start and the win going 5 innings and giving up only 1 earned run. Jags led 6-1 going into the 7th, but Clay County battled back scoring 3 runs and had 2 on base and the go ahead run at the plate. But after some nice hitting by the Tigers and a few errors by the Jags, relief pitcher Howell forced a flyout to Maggard to end the game. Bryce Hicks drove in 2 runs and Shawn Boroviak hit a 2 run HR with a crushing shot over the left field fence.

I was really impressed with the progress of junior catcher Bryce Hicks. He is really turning into a solid catcher. Hitting the ball very well, greatly improved arm strength, and hard to get any balls by him.

I heard that the 8th grader Nicholson was 2-3 for Clay. He seems to really be stepping up for them this year. What did you all think about him?? Who pitched for the Tigers?? This district will be fun come tournament time.

Gray seems to be pitching well this year. I've watched him since he has been 9 years old, and I knew he would be a good ball player.
