North Laurel 5 Knott Central 3

Featured Replies

Final. This was a great ball game. Ryan Sams pitched for North Laurel and Troy Smith pitched for KCC. Smith threw an excellent game for KCC allowing only 1 earned run on 6 hits. KCC made 3 errors in the first inning and 1 in the second inning that cost them 4 runs. The Patriots tried to fight back in the 6th and 7th, but came up a little short. As for North Laurel, they are very solid, and IMO the best team ive seen so far this year. They should be the team that comes out as 13th region champs at seasons end.

This was a very good game. After KCC settled down, they didn't allow a run to come across the plate after the 2nd inning.

Troy pitched a very good game. He walked one batter, allowed about 5 hits, and SO 4, I believe it was 4.

KCC could have broke the game open, but fell short. The bases were loaded a couple of times, they just couldn't get those extra runs.

Great game.

I hope you are right. I really like Coach McWhorter and the past 2 seasons he is visibly very pleased with how his team is progressing. They are getting solid starts and have 2 dandy pitchers in Sams (sr) and Evans (jr). They are both doing so well so far, that many are debating who is the #1 'Ace'. Evans' father told me that he thought it was close, but would give a slight edge to Sams. Several others told me that it was Evans. But their is no animosity as neither player has recorded a loss yet this season (knock on wood).

I was impressed with how well the Jags were playing small ball, then I go to the NL vs Clay game, and they were hitting away. I love to see a coach change up strategies to help is team and throw the other team slightly off balance. Boroviak (sr) is a welcome return to the Jags team as he didn't play his junior season to focus on football (just signed with Morehead State this week, so it paid off for him)! Maggard, Hicks, Adams, Mink, Howell(s), and others are all contributing for solid team efforts night after night!

It will be interesting to see how they do with South Laurel. Many SL players are still adjusting from the basketball court to the baseball diamond and should get better as the season wears on. When these two meet, it should be a dandy!!! IMHO, by season's end, they could be the best two teams in the 13th region.

The Sams kid had some control problems tonight. He walked several batters and seemed to be pretty frustrated. He throws hard, and Im sure hes lights out when he has his best stuff.

A big HR in the 2nd inning by Ryan Howell was the difference in this one. The NL pitchers could not figure out the ump's strike zone in this game. A little inconsistency by blue, imo. NL's defense made up for it though, throwing out a couple stealing, and also 2 at the plate. I don't think Mcwhorter liked his teams efforts in this one, hopefully they'll get their focus back today against Bryan Station.

KCC has an excellent baseball coach. We've played them several years in a row now, and I always come away impressed with how he coaches his team.
