FS is not going to be what they were in ‘16, ‘17, and ‘18 but they won’t be chopped liver either. FS will go through the process. This is a good place to be. Great facilities, great support, and good feeder program.

Madisonville North-Hopkins 45 Franklin-Simpson 31
The inadvertent whistle was the biggest play of the game. FS have come from being down 14-7 to lead 24-21 at the half. MNH was driving to take the lead to start the second half. They fumble occurred, FS recovered and had the momentum. However, there was the whistle. After a lengthy discussion the ball was returned to Madisonville with a 2nd and 1. The Maroons went on to score and take a 27-24 lead. It certainly seemed that with the offensive momentum FS generated in the first half they could realistically could have built a 31-21 lead. Changing the game totally. Having said all that, the better team won the region. Madisonville should be playing Louisville Central at home next week but KHSAA wisdom demands a 300 mile trek to Paintsville. Good Luck Maroons.

Guess I'm bored so here we go. Travel Distances
I flew Piedmont from Nashville to Charlotte when I was at Davidson. Stops in Knoxville and Asheville. Best thing thing was when Piedmont started non-stop service. 59 minutes from Nashville to Charlotte. Arrived one minute before I left.

Guess I'm bored so here we go. Travel Distances
Franklin-Simpson to Madisonville NH is 95 miles. I hr 36 min. This outcome could have happened under to previous system. Except that FS would have played Calloway Co in the first round then Madisonville in the second. Hoptown would have played Russell Co then Allen Co. Had Franklin Co won FS would have 2 hr 33 min 172 mi trip to Frankfort.

Franklin-Simpson 56 Allen County-Scottsville 20
There were two unsportsmanlike penalties on players Then one on Coach Hood. A better way to handle the situation may have been to throw the first flag then go to the coach rather than litter the field with more flags. On the other hand I have no idea what was said or how much was said so maybe the officials showed great restraint. On to Madisonville.

Taylor County 20 Glasgow 14
A couple of things: TA appeared to me as the engine that powered the GHS team. He willed Glasgow to the win over FS. Taylor Co last year had some bad actors on the field and in the stands during the FS v TC Semi Final game in Campbellsville. 33-0 seemed to take the starch out of their britches though.

Class 4A Playoffs: 4A Franklin-Simpson at 4A #7 Madisonville North-Hopkins Predictions
This looks like a steep climb for the Wildcats. It’s why we turn the lights on every Friday night though.

Franklin-Simpson 56 Allen County-Scottsville 20
It all happened after an ACS fumble recovered by FS. All the FS players were a good distance away as the defense had gone to the sideline and the offense was beginning to huddle. It seemed to be between the officials and a couple of ACS players and then an ACS coach. After all the flags were picked up there was a long discussion on the ACS sideline between the officials and coaches. End result was three half the distance penalties for unsportsmanlike conduct. The ball was all but in the end zone

Allen County-Scottsville/Franklin-Simpson Updates
Officiating crew is ???? Bad whistles and ball location for ACS and a horrendous PI on FS.

Class 2A Playoffs: #3 Mayfield vs. #7 Murray Predictions/Updates
Mayfield was eliminated from the playoffs twenty plus years ago by Murray. I don’t think the Cardinal nation could take another loss to the Tigers this soon.

Toughest places to play?
How about a home and home series between Mayfield and Breathitt?
-
Toughest places to play?
Rash is a tough place to play primarily because the Red Devils are generally pretty dang tough.

Injury bug stings again. Cats host Allen Co in round two.

Which 4 seed has the best chance at winning tonight (11/8)
Russell County's Collin Darnell and Dylan Bland ran for 1,062 yards against 4A District 2 competition. In the home game verses Franklin Simpson Darnell ran for 100 yds and Bland 126. If FS doesn't get a handle on these two this could be a big upset.

Class 4A Playoff Preview
"Allen County-Scottsville and Warren East would both also track as longshots to knock off Franklin, with a 10 point loss and 27 point loss to the Wildcats respectively. ACS defeated Warren East for the first time in three years with a 27-10 result on the road on October 18th, and that ultimately brought them their first home playoff game in 7 years. The Patriots started the season with a slightly more pass-oriented attack, but have shifted to the traditional ground game that they are known for in the latter half of the year. Landon Witcher is their speed back and leading rusher, while Jaquez McPeak is a hammer, frequently breaking tackles and dragging players with him. Defensively, the Patriots are a bend don’t break type, but their previous matchup with Warren East marked their best defensive performance of the year. Warren East enters on a three game losing streak that began with the loss to ACS, and are just 3-6 since opening the year with a victory. The Raiders lack the home run threat at running back that they have enjoyed in previous years, and lean heavily on QB Nolan Ford. Ford is their leading rusher with 103 attempts for 760 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is completing just over 50% of his passes and has 1,107 yards passing with 10 touchdowns. Their 10 points against ACS was their second lowest score of the year, and Ford threw two interceptions in the contest, as penalties also derailed the Raiders. Look for a more focused effort this time around from the Raiders, but the Patriot’s field that has been chopped up slightly from weather over the last two weeks may be an equalizer compared to the turf at Warren East." Your projected outcome of ACS v. WE was a bigger surprise than about anything that happened on the field this year. After reading that analysis of the ACS v WE game I did a double take on the District Final. You thoroughly convinced me on an ACS win over WE.

Glasgow 28 Franklin-Simpson 21
The Jim Whiteside, Johnny Vance, Gene England Glasgow teams were better but that was a half century ago. The Glasgow QB is the engine that powers this team. He is talented and a competitor who would not allow the Scotties to lose this one. FS will be ready for the playoffs.

BluegrassPreps' Western Kentucky Power Rankings - October 27, 2019
This will be game #59 between FS and Glasgow. Currently FS leads the series 35-23-1. FS needs this win to maintain the momentum of the five game win streak heading into the playoffs. The team has steadily regained its identity after the 0-4 start and an abnormal amount of injuries. The rushing attack rolled up 343 yds against Warren East and the defense created 6 turnovers. FS style football. Glasgow has been consistently dominant. The most impressive showing of the year may have been the 21-20 loss at South Warren. The Scotties can move the ball on the ground and through the air. All the computers and prognosticators point to a Glasgow win. I think it could be one of the most competitive entertaining games played in the area this year. The first game in this series was a 28-13 GHS win October 20, 1944.
