  1. Watched the entire BGA game and some of it twice. This is the best team FS has faced. Sorry Spartans. In spite of the final score this game convinced me that FS is going to see some success in 2019. The Cats were without three starters on the OL and one on the DL. Not making any predictions but I do believe this FS team has a bright future.
  2. This, I think, will be the first time ever that FS and Russellville have played and neither has won a game.
  3. Six teams out there chomping the bit to get their shot at the 0-4 Wildcats.
  4. I use periods and the Oxford comma. You’re welcome.
  5. The three teams FS has played go to next week with combined records of 9-0. The team FS plays next week is 3-0. FS continues to improve but each week is a step up in competition. I believe that BGA will be the best of the first four opponents. Secretariat was trailing the field coming out of the first turn in the Belmont. Won by 32 lengths.
  6. Somewhat surprised this on was a 3 point game.
  7. SW doesn’t show a Gooch or anything close on the roster.
  8. Meade QB had some nice runs but also some big losses.
  9. I like this team as well. The difference week one to week two was tangible. They have seen what it takes to be a champion. This isn't trouble...it's the process.
  10. Is FS "in trouble"? It's a bunch of kids playing football. Nobody is "in trouble". In 2017 FS followed a 14-1 State Runner Up season by starting 2-3. Running clock losses to South Warren and Elizabethtown with a tight loss to Meade. After that they rolled to 10 wins 9 of which were double digit wins including the 35-20 jaw dropper over Johnson Central. In 2013 FS started 2-4. End result was a Regional Championship game a Rash Stadium against Owensboro. It was one of the best high school games i have ever witnessed. Neither team would blink and time ran out on the Wildcats inside the OHS 10 yard line. This year's team is younger age wise and younger experience wise than 2017. Even with the loss to Meade Co they showed marked improvement over opening night. As FSfan stated, an 0-4 start will not be a shocker. But after facing a rising 5A team, a rising 6A team, last year's undefeated 5A State Champion, and one of the best private school teams in Tennessee they inexperienced will have experience and the younger ones will be older and tougher. The ceiling this year may be a Regional Championship game. We shall see. It's why we play the games.
  11. When Madisonville gets sent to Johnson Central or JC to Madville......the argument about saving on travel expense goes out the window. Mayfield to Beechwood? Beechwood to Mayfield?
  12. What is posted on the team statistics page is put there by the team. The KHSAA picks it up there.
  13. He did have a good game. I review the video and recording stats for both teams. I usually do it in person but I'm sidelined by ankle surgery right now Oppel had 17 rushes for 118 yards 3 TD's 4 receptions for 48 yards Meade Co overall had 118 rushing and 226 total offense. FS finished the night with 186 on the ground and 281 total offense.
  14. FS could make the a competitive game if the major mistakes/blunders can be eliminated. I think it’s the wrong game for that. FS looked better against Meade Co than Greenwood and I think MC is a better team than GW. However SW is better by a good bit than either. These first four games are the school of hard knocks for a rebuilding FS team. They are going to get a lot better having been through it.
  15. Lots of correctable mistakes by FS tonight.
  16. Oppel is impressive. He finds daylight. A threat whenever he has the ball.
  17. If FS gives up 38 points to Meade that will be the third highest in three years. Behind Johnson Central in 2016 and Elizabethtown in 2017. I suppose if Meade is better at all skill positions....38 points is not going to be surprising. But just fyi FS doesn’t throw the ball around much so judging the ability of their QB and WRs is difficult.
  18. Russellville is extremely young. They will be fine once they hit the 1A portion of the schedule. Coach Benton will have the Panthers cookin’ in a couple of years.
  19. I don’t know what the overall record was but the year Mayfield lost to Murray in the playoffs was a DOWN year. That date in history is #2 behind Pearl Harbor as a “Date that will live in infamy.” As far as Mayfield believes.
  20. I think “blowout” is over used. Mercer should win this one.
  21. There is a difference between FS 2018 and FS 2019. 2019 has a group of running backs that are loaded with potential. Lack game experience. 2018 had Bass and McKinney. Talented and loaded with experience. 2019 OL has three new comers. They will be fine but they need game experience. 2018 had an OL that had at least 15 games together. They worked as one. 2018 The defense won that championship. They were the difference in the 12-10 win over Madisonville and the 14-12 win over JC at Kroger Field. 2019 Again it is experience. By the time games that really count come around this D will be ready.
