Barren County bought their way out of games with BG and SW (which I think was a good move for BC). SW picked up a game with a team John Denver wrote a song about and won easily. BG picked up a national powerhouse and got waxed. Did either benefit? Was either harmed?

4A #5 Logan County at Hopkinsville
This is one of those games that at first look seems to be an easy pick. Logan County is 6-0 with an average winning margin of 43 points. Hoptown is struggling along at 1-5 and struggles to score points. Flip the two team's schedules though and what are their respective records? I have no doubt Hopkinsville would be carrying a 6-0 record and Logan would be saddled with 2 or three losses. I like to look at the pedigree of a team's schedule. Who have they beaten and who have those teams beaten. In Logan's case the "pedigree" is a mile wide and an inch deep. Not a lot of powerhouses back there. Hoptown does have a couple of potential State Champions (SW and Mayfield) they have played....and lost to. The Tigers' schedule is built for a team that is accustomed to winning games against tough competition. Logan's schedule is built for a team that needed to get some wins and get the program kick started. This doesn't mean I think Logan doesn't win this one. I do think that at some point the Tigers could flip the switch as they did a year ago and blow up on a team. I will not be surprised at the outcome either way.

Franklin-Simpson 54 Allen County-Scottsville 14
The freshman QB is getting more comfortable with each game. The OL seems to be working like a precision machine. A couple of new rushing threats have shown up. Defense is improving.

4A #2 Franklin-Simpson vs. Allen County-Scottsville
The FS/ACS rivalry the last few years can be defined by one drive in last year’s game. FS was on the way to the 4A State Championship. The Wildcats drove 99 yards all on the ground. Did not score. Did. Not. Score. That paints a perfect picture of the ACS resolve when it comes to Franklin-Simpson. The Patriots ain’t giving an inch without a fight.

The Dogs will have this one in hand from the start. Mitchell is real. They need to let the Big Dog hunt.

Kentucky State Football Championship Weekend...
Sunday is the Holy Day for most Christians. Saturday (Sabbath) is the Holy Day for Jews. Friday is the Holy Day for Muslims. Does everyone see the problem with NOT having games on Sunday?

Of course not. With so many teams and names those two are easy to mix up. Great recap as usual.

2A #5 Glasgow at 4A #2 Franklin-Simpson
This series began the year FS started playing football. 1944. The two played twice in 1944 and 1945. Glasgow won eight of the first nine games. Currently the series record is 34-23-1 in favor of FS. GHS won four straight in the 90's and FS has won the last four. Both teams would love to jump into district play next week with a win over an old rival. Glasgow is coming off a 56-40 shoot out win over Warren East and FS comes in with a smash mouth 17-14 win over a determined Meade Co. This should be a good one.

FS got the ball with 5:00 to go. Carlos McKinney said: Gimme the _______ ball. OC said: Give Carlos the ball. Tedric Partinger went for 11 and a 1st down. McKinney then got the ball for six straight plays. 6-4-2-8-5-5. Three first downs. Take a knee at the Meade Co. 8.
