Franklin-Simpson and Allen County-Scottsville meet in the first district game for both teams. Franklin leads the overall series 25-7 (28-7 if you count their three games against plain ole Allen County). It's a tighter 10-7 in favor of Franklin in the last 17 games, but the Wildcats have won three in a row over the Patriots. It's been 9 years since Allen County-Scottsville has won at Franklin. Franklin-Simpson is fresh off a huge 48-21 win over 2A ranked Glasgow, who had already beaten Allen County earlier this season. Meanwhile the Patriots gutted out a tough 38-35 win over Grayson County a week ago to come in at 4-2. Can the Patriots do anything to slow Franklin's powerful ground attack?

This is now probably the most bitter rivalry on each team’s schedule. For that reason alone, these games are often closer than expected. Since the expansion to six classes, this matchup has determined the district champion most of the time.

FS is the clear favorite, but I expect ACS to play their best game of the year. It’s also homecoming at FS this week, and that always brings with it some distractions. I’ll say FS wins 42-14.

The FS/ACS rivalry the last few years can be defined by one drive in last year’s game. FS was on the way to the 4A State Championship. The Wildcats drove 99 yards all on the ground. Did not score. Did. Not. Score.

That paints a perfect picture of the ACS resolve when it comes to Franklin-Simpson. The Patriots ain’t giving an inch without a fight.

FS in a BIG way. Running clock by halftime.

I don’t expect that.

I don’t expect that.

I see everyone of their reamining games as running clocks with the exception of WE, but FS will beat them handily too. Preston will get his starters some good rest in each of these games and be ready for the state run.

Its also Franklin's Homecoming. I expect it might be closer then expected in the first half, but Franklin runs away with it in the 2nd half

I've seen both ACS and Warren East multiple times. If Franklin is going to running clock one, they'll running clock both.

They won't running clock ACS by halftime.

As a person who has seen both as well, ACS does not possess near the offensive threat that East does. I think there is a gap between those two teams. Good news is, we both find out how big that gap is in two weeks.

As far as this game, give me FS by 28.

Allen Co.-Scottsville has some offensive challenges because they do not have a player like Maxey. But East is also very lacking on the defensive side of the ball. East is allowing 36 PPG. It doesn’t matter how good East’s offense is, they will be completely unable to stop Franklin. That’s why I’m saying if they running clock one they’ll running clock the other. I believe the Patriot/Raider game will be a shootout.

I don’t see either as a running clock. It’s District play and games always seemed to be closer than expected.

None of the teams left of FS schedule can stop FS. The only reason I have reservation for the WE game not being a running clock is that they can score and FS is still is growing on the defensive side of the ball.

ACS can't stop them completely, but nor do I believe Franklin is going to score every time they touch the ball. They really might against East.

Franklin's next serious challenge is not going to come until the state finals. But I think you need to pump the brakes just a smidge. Franklin didn't running clock Greenwood by halftime. They just barely did it to Monroe County. They might put a clock on ACS but it won't be that way by the half. And I stand by my assessment that I expect the result of the East game to be in line with that of ACS. Saw East again last night, and I can continue to affirm that the only difference between them and ACS offensively is Maxey. If Franklin can shut down Maxey, then East cannot score.

I’m not trying to be arrogant or overly optimistic, but FS will stop the run of WE. Preston is known for his run defense and his defense as a whole just keep getting stronger as the year goes on. FS’s Offense speaks for itself. They are slowly but Surely getting the passing game going and when they get that nailed down they will get another ring in December.
