The Cougars come off their bye week as still one of only two teams in 4A to be unbeaten. They face a road trip to a desperate Hopkinsville team. Last season this was the announcement game for Logan County, who were still doubted despite the same 6-0 record. They pulled out a thrilling 13-12 upset in the regular season matchup, before everything went against them in a 43-8 running clock loss in the playoffs to Hopkinsville. The Tigers have lost three in a row, and a loss here will drop them from contention for a home playoff game, yet again. They've scored a mere 20 points in 2.5 games without starting QB Javier Bland, who was lost for the year. Can the Tigers find their footing and turn the district into a race, or do the Cougars set up a top ten showdown with Madisonville in a week?

This is one of those games that at first look seems to be an easy pick. Logan County is 6-0 with an average winning margin of 43 points. Hoptown is struggling along at 1-5 and struggles to score points.

Flip the two team's schedules though and what are their respective records? I have no doubt Hopkinsville would be carrying a 6-0 record and Logan would be saddled with 2 or three losses. I like to look at the pedigree of a team's schedule. Who have they beaten and who have those teams beaten. In Logan's case the "pedigree" is a mile wide and an inch deep. Not a lot of powerhouses back there.

Hoptown does have a couple of potential State Champions (SW and Mayfield) they have played....and lost to. The Tigers' schedule is built for a team that is accustomed to winning games against tough competition. Logan's schedule is built for a team that needed to get some wins and get the program kick started.

This doesn't mean I think Logan doesn't win this one. I do think that at some point the Tigers could flip the switch as they did a year ago and blow up on a team. I will not be surprised at the outcome either way.
