Robinson has been very inconsistent this season imo.

Hazard has only one loss this season, a 2 point decision to a good out-of-state team in one of the southern holiday tournaments, and owns wins over Ashland, Harlan County and Madison Central. They’re probably better than number 28 by quite a bit.

The freezing rain finally shut the power down in my Owsley neighborhood. We made it to almost 11:00 pm tonight. I was hoping the temps stayed high enough to spare us but nope!

Electric went off at my house in Booneville at 10:45 pm. We had 4 inches of snow between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm today and then it started raining and has rained light to heavy periods all afternoon and evening. There’s a glaze of ice on the vehicles, so I knew it was just a matter of time before we lost power.

Pouring in Owsley County. 4 inches as of 12:15pm.

Never saw this one happening.

The Hazard Bulldogs definitely have some high profile wins on their resume. This is one of the better Bulldog teams I’ve seen in quite a few years. Coach Al Holland has had three schools win the 14th region a total of 10 times. I don’t see anyone in the region stopping them from making it number 11. But everyone said the same thing last season and Breathitt derailed them in overtime in the regional semifinals. Also, Perry Central lost a 3 point decision at Hazard a couple weeks back. So they aren’t completely invincible. However, if they are healthy and have a full roster I think they will win the region this year with room to spare.

Bishop Brossart is easily a top 20 team.

Guru, does BGP still do a high school rankings?

Owsley is just too young and inexperienced this season. After 3 year starter Addie Terry, a junior, transferred over the summer it has left the Lady Owls starting 2 freshmen and 3 sophomores and the reserves are freshmen and an 8th grader. They lost 3 starters from their state tournament team last season and then a 4th starter when Addie left.

Has Davis returned from his injury? He is a veteran and experienced player that hasn’t played for the Tomcats this season.

Madison Central is 8-0. This was their second overtime win of the season. They beat Montgomery County in OT December 12. I saw West Jessamine on a streamed game earlier in the season and was really impressed with them. They have a young team and bright future.

Didn’t Newport lose a D1 prospect to transfer?

Addison “Addie” Terry played for my home team, Owsley County, last season and averaged 14 & 8 on the regional championship team that lost by 2 points to Bowling Green in Rupp. We hated to lose her, only a junior, but her dad took a job teaching and is an assistant coach at Montgomery County and moved there. Her brother Andrew is a talented 6’7 freshman.

Jayci coming back off a season ending knee injury has really made a big difference for the Lady Engineers. Their one weakness is lack of height, they basically start five guards.

Ashland will be even better when Jennings and Davis return. Jennings is back but not completely healthy. He averaged 10 ppg last season and Davis averaged 5. But the experience is what is so important, and the kids playing in their spots at the time are getting valuable minutes that will add to the quality depth as the season progresses.

TCR, that is as good of a report and breakdown as I have ever read. ?

I don’t live in that area and just going on what I’ve been told but it’s my understanding a ruling will be made December 16.

Ashland had two veteran starters out with injuries, Davis and Jennings. I believe football injuries. I heard they would return pretty soon.

Powell came from 17 down in the 3rd quarter to pull out the win. Montgomery’s 6’6 Luke Fawns saw limited action tonight because he’s still gimpy with an ankle sprain.

I think his last name is Reed.

Montgomery was without 6’7 Luke Fawns, their leading scorer. He has a sprained ankle. Even so the game was closer throughout than the final score indicates. Also they have a good guard that could be eligible to play in a couple of weeks. When the Indians get their entire team intact they should be pretty solid .

Ashland should be a favorite in this game even with it played in Hazard’s historic Memorial Gym. My guess is 10 or more points.
