I have a typo in that post. Auto Correct made “district” into “Doctor T”. How it came up with that I have no idea, lol.

54th district does not have a Blind Draw anymore. They started seeding their Doctor T last year. All four districts in the 14th region now seed.

One would think that Clinton County should have scheduled a couple of the Warren County schools, especially this season when they have one of their best teams ever. If for no other reason to just see where they stack up to those traditional powerhouses.

Has Johnson signed with LSU or is she only committed? Mulkey is probably doing whatever it takes to make sure Zykyra doesn’t flip to Louisville at the last minute.

I don’t think there’s any teams in Kentucky that can keep Sacred Heart from hoisting another state championship trophy in March. There’s a few programs that can play within striking distance of them, such as GRC and Cooper, but SH simply plays on another level.

I think Montgomery County is a transformed team since guard Cayden Reed became eligible in late January. He sat out a year and became automatically eligible after January 26, I think that’s the date. He makes a huge difference for them. An example is a month ago GRC defeated the Indians by 27 in Winchester. GRC won a few nights ago in Mt Sterling but it took them triple overtime to do it. MoCo has size and shooters but they lacked a facilitator. They are a nice boat but needed a rudder. Their record is 12-9 but they have lost six games by 1 to 3 points, games that could have gone either way and probably would have been MoCo wins if Reed had been playing. I think the team they have now would probably compete and possibly win against several of the teams on this list.

Montgomery built a big lead then blew it and the game went into overtime. They finally won by 7 in OT. Still a nice out of region win. Fleming is pretty good this year.

Kentucky seems to lose a lot of their top female basketball players to out of state teams. The Johnson girl from Sacred Heart has committed to LSU.

Has she chosen a college yet?

Wouldn’t have thought anyone in the state could have held Hazard to 29 points but their 3s weren’t falling and that’s a rarity for them. I realize DC is long and challenged a lot of their shots but they got a lot of open looks too, just couldn’t make them. And they missed the big Higgins guy. He’s about 6’4 and is a space-eater in the paint. Does anyone know if he will be back for the post season tournaments?

Breathitt cut the lead to around 4 late in the game but Harlan County went on a big run that included several 3s and blew the game wide open for the win.

Good road win for Montgomery. I believe Reed will be a game changer for the Indians. They’ve had a good engine in their vehicle this season but have needed a steering wheel. I think Reed makes a huge difference for them.

2006 was the last time the KHSAA did a major realignment. Definitely needs to be revisited.

Will NFHS be broadcasting the games as well as PrepSpin? I have a subscription to NFHS but not PrepSpin.

I think the two teams rated 1 and 2 play in the first round.

Championship game is Saturday at 3:00 PM between Hazard and Breathitt County. Hazard has only one loss this season, to a team in a southern holiday tournament by 2 points and are now 16-1. They haven’t lost in Kentucky. The Bulldogs have one of their best teams ever imo and I remember some pretty great Hazard teams in my lifetime, as far back as the early 1960s. I was too young when their Johnny Cox (UK ncaa championship team ‘58) led team won the state tournament in ‘55 but I remember the highly rated Jim Rose (WKU & Final Four) led teams of the mid ‘60s. This team may not have a D1 star like those did but they are loaded with talent, particularly 6’4 Evin Eversole who is muscular, thick built in the upper body, and just flat knows how to score, rebound and win. Massey doesn’t have them rated in the top 25 of the state but that is not correct to my thinking. However, they haven’t played out in the state very much this year to get a better judgement but do have wins over Ashland and Madison Central. They are a well balanced and efficient team and well coached by Al Holland (10 regional titles at three schools).

Good win for Wolfe County.

Montgomery really needs Reed at the PG position. From the stream games I’ve seen of them they are struggling in that spot and it negates their strength in size, which goes 6’7, 6’6 and 6’5 in the front court. It doesn’t matter what kind of engine one has in a car if there’s no steering wheel. I’m hearing he may be eligible by the end of January.

Good for her! I’m glad she is back to get a few weeks of the schedule played and the post season. I enjoyed watching her at the state tournament last year.

Owsley County vs Lee County girls and boys All A games have been rescheduled for Sunday at 2:30 (girls) and 4:00 (boys).

Travis Perry was called for a foul when a State player hooked him on a drive into the lane and basically threw him down onto the court. They called the basket good and awarded a free throw, lol.

I don’t see anyone left stopping Ohio State from a national championship.
