Where will that game be played? -
George Rogers Clark 52 Great Crossing 51
The Professor replied to Randy Parker's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
GRC is a very good team but seems like they are not performing up to last year’s state championship team caliber. I thought they had most of their key players back this year. Not inferring that Great Crossing should be an easy win by any means but a team of the Cardinals caliber at home should have won this game without too much stress. -

As of now BGP has the most accurate ratings of any state ratings system and has since it’s beginnings, imo. -
All “A” Classification Guidelines
The Professor replied to NKY KID's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Also, and someone correct me if I’m mistaken, the All A Classic and the 2A tournament have different organizers. These two tournaments, although statewide events, are basically just huge invitational tournaments. They are not connected and have different qualifications and rules. So the guidelines for one and the guidelines for the other could be different. -
All “A” Classification Guidelines
The Professor replied to NKY KID's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The All A tournament is made up of the smallest 125 school enrollments in the state and uses the same 16 region format that is used by the KHSAA for their March tournament. There is not a set enrollment number. It is fluid from one year to the next. If an All A school chooses not to play in the tournament, which some do, then whoever was the 126th on the list will move up and be eligible. The enrollment numbers are higher now than they were in the past because small schools have been gobbled up statewide due to consolidations. In the 1990s there were many more All A schools, such as (from my region) Fleming-Neon, Whitesburg, old Letcher High, and Dilce Combs. Statewide schools such as Maysville, Harrodsburg, some of the McCracken Co schools, Allen Central, South Floyd, numerous Pike Co schools, etc. That’s why the enrollment number qualifications have edged upward well over 500 and has permitted many schools who years ago could not have played in the All A to now be able to do so. -

Owsley County downs Grundy 67-52 to go 2-1 in their three games at the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic in Gatlinburg, Tn. Heading back to Booneville today and prepare for a busy January where they could possibly play as many as 15 games with the All A tournament being during January as well.

I watched about 7 minutes of the game and turned the tv to a Netflix documentary about Lynyrd Skynyrd. This team is not fun to watch. No talent imo. It seems they can’t get a good combination of players in the lineup to run a coherent offense or play defense. Too many players that are a square peg that Cal is attempting to wedge into a round hole. They have one player that will see minutes in the NBA (Wallace) and another that might make a roster (Oscar) and that’s about it. They went to the Bahamas and thumped some thrown together teams that were terrible and everyone, me included, got all pumped up for a grand ole season and a Final Four possibility, and now it appears they won’t even qualify for the Big Dance in March.

North Oldham 81 North Laurel 67

North Laurel’s Chadwell didn’t play. He makes a huge difference on the boards and interior scoring for the Jaguars. He’s been out with a knee injury but is expected back next week. -
Madison Central 60 Warren Central 43
The Professor replied to DearToday's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Madison Central is always a capable of winning but their record going into this game was 4-4. I’m about as surprised seeing this 17 point win over Warren Central as any score I’ve seen in a while. -

In emergencies they could train a few fans to ref from the bleachers where they have already perfected their officiating skills. 😁 -
I think attendance is affected these days by the ability of fans to be able to sit in the comfort of their homes and watch the games on streaming services. I don’t know how much it is a factor but I know quite a few people who once came to a lot of local games that now watch them through streams if they are available.

Two of the top teams in the 14th region battled it out tonight in the Hyden Citizens Bank Classic and a Lady Eagles basket in the last seconds earned them a hard fought victory. The Lady Owls had a shot at the horn to win but the long 3 wouldn’t fall. Leslie’s record is now 7-1 and Owsley falls to 5-2, with both their losses 2 point setbacks on the road (the other was Knox Central). Leslie and Owsley could very well play three more times this season: in the All A Regional tournament in January, a regular season game at Owsley in February, and possibly in the KHSAA regional if both are fortunate enough to advance. This years All A semifinals and the 14th region KHSAA tournaments are at Leslie.

The Green Dragons are the real deal! They’ve defeated a lot of high caliber competition on their way to being undefeated so far this season. -
Harlan 80 Ashland 63
The Professor replied to Randy Parker's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Harlan still undefeated. They have defeated the top rated teams in the 14th, 15th and 16th. They’ll have a good test in their next game in the Pikeville tournament when they take on the Polar Bears of Bracken County.- 1 reply
