Final. A heck of a career probably the greatest in the history of the women's college basketball was not enough for a superior South Carolina team. South Carolina finishes their season a perfect 38-0. Iowa who loses in the finals for the 2nd year in a row and finish their season at 34-5.

What is even more impressive for South Carolina's season is they had 5 new starters this season.

It’s a cliche, but the better team won. 
 

And the deeper team.  I think they said that bench points were 37-0 SC. 

South Carolina’s bench was HUGE in this game and the difference maker. Caitlin Clark is the best female to play the game of college basketball. Even in losing, she has nothing to hang her head about. 

After scoring 18 first quarter points Caitlin Clark only scored 12 the remainder of the game, on just 5-20 from the floor in quarters 2-4. South Carolina just had too many different people to put on her and it just wore her down she was only 10-28 from the floor and 5-13 from 3 and 4 turnovers. Tessa Johnson only a freshman was huge today for South Carolina off the bench she 7-11 and 3-6 from 3 and scored 19 points. Kamilla Cardoso at 6'7 was just to much for Iowa she had 15 points, 17 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Rebounds were 57-31 in favor of SC.

The South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team is a model of excellence, congrats!!

South Carolina was just too tall for Iowa. They owned the boards and blocked or altered way too many shot attempts by the Hawkeyes. 
I sure hope Coach Brooks is able to bring in some talented size to the UK program. That’s something that has been lacking just about every year and it’s difficult to compete in the SEC without it. 

Great game.  Closer than I thought it would be.    Gamecocks just had too much size.  For Iowa to keep it close and have a chance people other than Caitlin Clark had to be hot from three and that just didn't happen today.   As mentioned earlier, the best team won.  38-0 pretty much solidifies that you were.

 

Also hats off to coach Dawn Staley for acknowledging that the attention brought to the tourney this year, and hopefully in the future, was largely due to a young woman sitting in the losing locker room.

That’s an 89 percent increase from the 2023 title game and a 285 percent increase from 2022.

The most watched basketball game, regardless of gender, since the 2019 Final between Virginia and Texas Tech.
