I thought the same thing. I think its to keep from having players come in before and after the 1st shot. It prevents a bit of a delay from having to sound the horn twice.

Better players? No. Better team? Definitely.

The prior years' players are the most talented group I've ever seen. Unfortunately, they never learned what a team was. Those kids should have been state contenders for multiple years. Instead they self-destructed over and over again. I'll take this year's team with less talent and more heart.

Final score in 15th Region semi-finals. Tough year for South Floyd. Paintsville's starters were on the bench after 3 qtrs.

Well they play huge.

In the 9th I'd have to say Holmes followed by Highlands and Ryle. Problem with Ryle is that they don't have the offense to go with the defense.

And I think thats a good point. The perfect offense scheme will never be perfect for every team. You have to make the offense fit your team, not the other way around.

We ran the veer, or as we called it "student body right/left", with great success. We had a smart QB, super quick RB and a killer FB. Also our passing game sucked.

I think a shot clock would be the best addition. I also realize that it ain't going to happen. Too many issues implementing. I probably shouldn't have even brought it up, because its been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere. No need to beat a dead horse.

I haven't read through all your posts. I'll just give my opinion. The increase in kids quitting sports, especially talented athletes stems from two things: 1) Too many of our kids our immersed into sports from the time they are very young. They participate year round going to training camps in between seasons. By the time they get to their upperclassman years, they're fed up with sports. 2) If #1 doesn't apply, then its usually a case of coddling our kids and not making them be responsible or follow through on anything.

Moss Point is one of the top 4A schools in Mississippi. Moss Point has around 1000 students. They're ranked #4 in the state.

I'm not sure what to tell you. The news sources are reporting that Rose Hill will play Moss Point and LexCath will play Modesto. The Riherds scoreboard isn't showing either team being there.

No stats yet. Rose Hill plays Lexington Catholic tomorrow night at the Nissan Classic. Should be another excellent game.
