Final from Jaguar Classic...Bulldogs now 18-1, with a hard nosed Ryle Team coming to Covington on tuesday.

Ryle doesnt stand a chance against Holmes. I believe the Bulldogs are the best team in the 9th Region hands down at this point. I have heard from some very reliable folks that they push the ball up the floor better this year than in years past and have become very smart about taking whats given to them. This meaning, they are smart enough to pull it out and set up their offense and score where as in years past they take the break everytime.

 

Holmes is the team to beat and even though Ryle is coming off cloud nine beating Shelby CO, they will be brought back to reality in their next game.

Why is Holmes even playing teams like this? I know it's a tournament but wouldn't the 6th best team in the state be in a tournament with a little stronger competition?

This year's team is very good, but I'll take Austin Hill, Duran Jefferson, Greg Rice, Arez Henderson and Josh Nelson every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I think the reporter for the enquirer said it best earlier in an article about this years Holmes team, that their coach was almost giddy and seemed rejuvinated at coaching this years team versus years past because of team work and discipline that this years team was showing early.

I would think that most people would agree that though last years talent level was probably a little higher this years team plays more together and with more discipline, and better defensively...

Which was exactly my point above. Coaches live for kids that listen and are coachable, not to mention have exceptional talent. You look at some of those kids like Jefferson(tech foul in reg. tourney jr. yr to blow it, other troubles), Rice- kicked off one year and even though verry gool players Im sure Henley would rather have kids he can mold and coach. Henderson is a great leader for the rest of that group.

Not bold at all. This year's Team has just as good of a shot as last years. And if you don't think this Team is more disiplined, and plays better as a Team, just ask their Coach.

The prior years' players are the most talented group I've ever seen. Unfortunately, they never learned what a team was. Those kids should have been state contenders for multiple years. Instead they self-destructed over and over again. I'll take this year's team with less talent and more heart.
