Paris' junior forward Koebe Garrard scored his 1,000th point last during the Greyhounds' victory over Montgomery County ... their first win over the Indians in 16 years (26 straight losses).

As far as school goes, he's still a freshman. However, on the football field he's not a freshman anymore because he's played enough games now to be a sophomore ... on the football field ... on the football field! I was just making a point! :thumb:

If Bourbon plays the way I've seen them play several times this season, then they should take care of Fleming County with no problems. The Colonels, although they do have some players out, will always have a chance with Brent Holman in the backfield. The kid is one of the best running backs in the state and he can make a huge difference in any game. Bourbon County 35, Fleming County 13

Paris had a few kids missing the first time around against Ludlow and their quarterback, a freshman, was playing in just his third game. Now, he's a sophomore. The game time was also changed on the Hounds and Paris arrived at Ludlow's field late and really didn't get that much of a warmup period. Trust me, Coach Washington and his staff will have their team ready to play. It wouldn't shock me if they put a running clock on the Panthers. I highly doubt it but it wouldn't surprised me! I hate to say this but Beechwood can play their freshman team the entire game! Wishing Bracken County the best but I've seen them play twice and as recently as two weeks ago against Paris (lost 71-0). Beechwood's varsity will not get anything out of this.

Had more than one team advanced to the playoffs back in the mid 80's, then Paris High School's 1985 team would've easliy won the state championship!

10th Region: Paris vs Bourbon ... The two schools that are three minutes apart have met 167 times on the basketball court. Bourbon leads the overall series 90-77, after seeing Paris tie it at 71-71 a few years ago!

Just so you guys know, Mitchell Cody did play against Paris. He threw for 247 yards and rushed for another 33 yards. Paris did have a tough time stopping him but they manage to do it when it counted.

Paris' Alexis Tye scored 38. She was 6-of-10 from behind the three-point line. It was a great game to watch! Bourbon went up 12-1 and Paris led 30-21 at the break. Bourbon moved in front 51-43 in the fourth before Paris went back on top 64-55 with 57 seconds remaining. Bourbon's last minute rally ended one point short.

Harrison County won the game 28-16. No injuries and a very nice crowd attended the Alumni event.

In their version of Friday night lights, former football players from Bourbon County High School, along with former football players from cross-town rival Paris High School, are teaming up this Friday night to battle long-time Colonel and Greyhound rival Harrison County in the first annual Gridiron Alumni Bowl. The game will be played this Friday night at 7:00 at Adena Springs Field, home of the Bourbon County Colonels. This game is being presented by Gridiron Alumni, who sponsor games all over the United States. After “County Pride” as the Bourbon/Paris team will be called, the Gridiron Alumni will be in Mt. Sterling on Saturday night to host a game between interstate 64 rivals Montgomery County and George Rogers Clark. To play in an alumni football game, a player must be at least 18 and played for their local high school team. The Gridiron Alumni carry insurance for the schools and stadiums but do not carry player insurance. If they are interested in player insurance, however, they will refer you to a company that does player accident insurance. Each player had to pay $79.00 dollars to participate and that fee includes their shoulder pads, helmets, jerseys, pants, girdles, hip pads, thigh pads, knee pads, tailbone pads, locker room personnel, gate workers and referees. In addition, they pay for stadium insurance costs, and rent the field from the schools. Player fees help to cover these costs. According to the Gridiron Alumni, every Alumni game is different. “Some teams are loaded with young, fast, strong athletes. Some teams are loaded with old, out of shape, weak athletes,” said a representative from Gridiron Alumni. “One thing we’ve learned is that it doesn’t mean anything. There hasn’t been a team that didn’t want to win.” As far as rules, the game will be played under high school rules with a few exceptions. And one of those exceptions in the excessive celebration rule. Unlike high school and college, in this game, one is encouraged to get their dance on or their pen out to sign an autograph. However, a player is not allowed to celebrate over a player, but next to them is fine, while at the same time ... keep it clean! They will play 12 minute quarters for teams that have fewer than 40 players. For over 40 players on a team, they will play 15 minute quarters. The last time Brian Washington was walking the sidelines as the Greyhounds head football coach, he was leading Paris to a 7-4 record and a first round exit in the state playoffs. Little did he know that his last team of 2006 would be the last Greyhound team to have a winning record. Since his departure, the Hounds’ record over the past five years is 6-46 and that included a 22-game losing streak that was snapped this past season. When JJ Everage announced that he was stepping down from the position he has held the past four seasons, the Paris Schools Administration went to work quickly in finding a new coach. A lot of applicants applied but the School System, with the help of players, former coaches and alumni voices, knew exactly what type of coach they were looking for to lead their program into the future. As they looked, they didn’t have to go too far to find him. Last week, Paris High School Principal Jami Dailey made it official by announcing that former Greyhound Coach Brian Washington will be the team’s next football coach.
