Class 6A Rankings for 8-22
Scott Co beat 1 team in the regular season with a winning record. The best team they played and beat was probably Eastern in the playoffs. They squeaked by a 9-5 Boone Co. team 16-14 to make the state finals. Scott Co was a good team, but the sparkling record going into the state championship game was a little bit of fools gold.

Who will replace Mike Glaser at X? Will Wolford??
I'm gonna play a little Devils advocate here. But if they are so academically inclined at St X what it he purpose of having competitive athletics at all? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but athletics is what brings visibility to all schools. It is especially a selling point at private schools. The football programs at both St X and T are what draws attention to those private schools. I'm not saying they should unload the bank to hire a football coach. But they are in competition for students as well as athletes and there is no excuse for them to not be on the same level from a pay scale perspective for coaches as their main competition (T). If they do not match or at least come close, they will not only fall behind on the football field, but it will eventually affect the desire of the entire population they draw students from to attend X. Am I wrong?

Class 6A Rankings for 8-22
They were a top 10 squad ALL YEAR last year in the BGP rankings in spite of their dismal performance and losing record. Boone Co beat them and still could never pass them in the regular season rankings. If they beat Butler Friday maybe some of the bad taste in my mouth will leave. But if Butler beats them they should move quickly out of the top 10.

Class 6A Rankings for 8-22
Then why in the world would Male be at #6? Both Male and Ballard had losing records last year. 5 Jefferson Co. public schools in the top 10 seems like an over-representation as well. You could put Lafayette (#8), Henry Clay, Tates Creek, and Bryan Station on the same level as the Jefferson Co Public schools. There's not much difference in any of them.

Hopkinsville's season opener cancelled
That is not true at all.

Hopkinsville's season opener cancelled
The competence at Hopkinsville started going downhill in 2005 when they didn't hire Steve Lovelace and has been in a downward spiral ever since.

2012 Kentucky High School Football Preview - Class 5A
If there are 10 teams ahead of Christian Co., then 5A may be the deepest of all classes.

Mayfield/Warren Central Predictions
You say Mayfield would have been more competitive with Warren Central than Trousdale last year, yet the Cardinals struggled with Greenwood. There is a ton of respect for Mayfield in all of Kentucky. They are one of the most prestigious programs in the entire state. But very few times do they play teams in W Kentucky that have the same athleticism as they do, much less a 5A program that will have more and bigger athletes than them. I may be completely off base, but I just think Warren Central will be too much for them. I agree that WC's line play is where they will beat the Cards soundly. Bush is more of a game manager than a productive passing QB.

Mayfield/Warren Central Predictions
I guess they technically would still have a shot. But any 5A championship calibar team should not lose to a class A school (albeit a very good Class A school). I know the Mayfield contingent believes they can play with anyone, but it is a different level of football comparing Mayfield to Warren Central, BG, John Hardin, Christian Co., etc. Just more players, more athletes, more coaches, more everything. Not at all. Mayfield is considered the preseason favorite to win 1A. Again, I think it would be more of an indictment that Warren Central is not the 5A challenger that a lot of people think them to be. I'm anxiously awaiting the outcome of this game. Dragons by 21.

Mayfield/Warren Central Predictions
I keep hearing how Mayfield is 'accustomed' to this type of challenge. I just don't see it. The last time they played a team like Warren Central (larger school that is a top 5 team) was all the way back in 2006 against Hoptown. When Mayfield has stepped up in class it is usually against the larger slower programs in Western Ky (Graves, Marshall, Greenwood, etc.) Warren Central mops the floor with those teams when they have played them. If this game is close, i'll view it as more of an indictment of Warren Central than the greatness of Mayfield. Good 5A teams should soundly beat good 1A teams.

6A football coaches' polls 8/12
Louisville is skewed due to Ballard and Male in with losing records last year. Especially Male. I would put Lafayette and Boone ahead of Male.

How many transfers does Beechwood have?
Make your program a place that kids want to play, not a program that kids want to leave.
