I think the biggest misconception by people is that just because the offense is in the shotgun or spread, they don't run the ball much or are only thinking pass. Most of the time this sin't true. Just because they are spread don't assume they throw the ball 80% of the time. Most coaches spread the field to see how many players remain in the defensive box, 7 or more- throw it, 6 or less- run it. It's usually just a numbers game and taking what the defense gives you. as far as line play, the spread isn't a cheap way out. The o line actually has to learn more- several different pass protections, in most cases how to block several types of screens, and run blocking. You may be able to get away with using some smaller players, but all of them have to be pretty smart and athletic. Take a look at the stats of a successful spread team and I think you may be suprised how many times they do run the ball.

Let's see, Lex Cath is a spread offense- 3A champs, Owensboro Cath- been to the 2A championship game the last two years running the spread. They seemed to play pretty good defense.

you know, the KFCA voted on it and my opinion is they probably have a pretty good idea about how things work in this state regarding football. Before this whole thing is blasted as being the end of KY football, give it a chance. Are all the other states that do it wrong? Again, Alabam has 6 classes, plus a separate private school league, and they do just fine and produce top notch talent. I am not picking at the scab of the public\private issue, just stating a fact. Give this a chance and see how it works before you go and start "fixing" it. I still think it has several pros- it cuts down the number of teams in each district. That will enable teams to schedule more non district games so they will quit whining about playing in weak districts and not being able to prepare for the playoffs. Now they have the flexibilty of scheduling opponents that will better prepare for post season play. So what if more teams make it to the playoffs, the cream will still rise to the top. Is it so bad that more teams get an extra game or two? With all the budget cuts and several schools being self-sufficient as to their athletic teams, extra games mean extra $$. Just because a small group of coaches have voiced their displeasure at the outcome doesn't mean they are right. I'm not saying they're not, but that Northern KY group was evidently a minority when it came time to vote whether they voiced their opinions at the meeting or not. Every coach in the state has been asked how they feel about it. What are they supposed to do, say they are for it when they aren't?

There are definitely some teams that will have an easy way out of their districts from top to bottom, but there are also some pretty tough districts.

you know, with the 6 class system, teams will have an opportunity to upgrade their schedule if the wish. By the same token, teams can also schedule to pat their stats.

I think Franklin Co is 35-30 during that same period. Same as Fairdale.

All I can say is that states like TX, AL, GA, FL that traditionally produce top notch talent all have more than 4 classes. I sincerely doubt any of those people associated with the teams that won championships feel that theirs isn't as nice or worthy than any other class. How many divisions are there in college? I guess those kids at any level other than D1 don't value their championships as much. How will creating smaller districts among schools much closer to population size water anything down? If anything it should create more competitive districts and make KY football more exciting. Plus smaller districts mean schools can now schedule more non-district games creating several more big matchups.

Not only that, but Scott is a great kid and competitor. He has worked his tail off to become as good as he is.

The game will be played June 8 at Harrodsburg High School at 7:30 due to construction at Centre.

I hear a decision will be made this week- they have one more applicant to interview then make an offer. So far I don't think any of the favorites have any head coaching experience....assts from some pretty good programs.

The point is neither school gets the support for athletics in general from the BOE. That's why no one wants to stay in Frankfort. Any hard work or improvement is never acknowledged or rewarded. The BOE expects the boosters to foot the bill for most everything athletically and most wind up doing it. Until their are some adminsitrators that have a clue as to how to manage athletics this will become or remain a common theme.

Jep is a great coach and an even better person, he didn't make this decision lightly. He will be a good situation at Pelham and will play the best in 6A Alabama football.

The real reason is simply Dunbar needed a game that week, and that was who was available and would travel to Dunbar to play.

I think Coach Dahlstrom had quite a bit of pressure to resign. He was getting heat from several directions. I agree, he is a good coach and fine man. The fact is that Bourbon just hasn't had the talent to be competitive the past two years. I truly don't believe was the coach, plus two years isn't enough time to put it all back together. The program he inherited was in shambles, he came into a situation with hardly any equipment and so forth. I wish him and feel that he will land on his feet somewhere and be successful.

I agree, they probably won't go after anyone. Their tradition should attract soem quality coaches and I haven't heard Walker's name in the mix. Nelson has fielded quality football teams and kids for a long time. I believe they are the last county school to win the 4A championship. Expectations are high and the support is usually great in the community. they promoted from within when Brown left, maybe it's time to look outside that box and try to revitalize this proud program. Holcomb's snag will always be money, he applied when Brown left and after Spalding i think.

I agree, Ben is a great shut down DB, but he only played against 2 of the WR's listed and 1 had a 100 yard night- he didn't have him that night though. Wes is a great kid and is a shame he has been left off, but I also think some of the other receivers listed are much better than Burbage- Wes for 1-

Nope, not at all- both schools split the gate after expenses. I'm sure there were students on both sides saying things that could be seen as out of line, and yes administrators are supposed to be there to monitor that behavior. Unfortunately, many times the worst behavior comes from parents or other adults and not the students. While students may chant and boo and make some gestures that don't show the utmost sportsmanship, I think adult fans are far, far worse with their comments and actions. Those are the ones that are hard to control with a school administrator.

Hopefully people realilze that behavior doesn't represent the football program's attitude. While it's great that FC brought a bunch of fans and people are excited about football again, some seem to just be there because that's what everyone else is doing, not necessarily a true fan or someone who actually watches the game.

HHS ran the jet against CCH, not sure about Grant, definatley not against FC
