CoachBuckett Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 Now that Coach Engstrand has left for Henry County. Western Hills we be searching for another coach. It seems like no one wants to stay at WHHS. There has to be some issues for a school to lose a coach every year or two. Who would be interested in this job?
Tall Trees Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I have had a few dealings with WH and they do not seem very professional in the way they handle things.
willydidit Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I thought that the principal was an ex FB coach isn't he? I thought he would be very supportive. Also the AD seems like she would be very supportive. Do they have support from the administration and not the surrounding community or is it opposite? I have always thought this could be a great opportunity but it seems no one stays very long.
CoachBuckett Posted April 2, 2006 Author Posted April 2, 2006 IMO this could be a great situation with right person running the program. The principal is an ex-FB coach. But from what I hear the parents run things out there. WHHS is known for doing things backwards. Can't figure them out. They had some good talent last year and several of those kids are returning.
steamroller Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 To be honest with you it is not the administrations fault that they cannot keep a coach, it all has to do with the Board of Ed and there lack luster way of support for WHHS sports!
No I in TEAM Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 To be honest with you it is not the administrations fault that they cannot keep a coach, it all has to do with the Board of Ed and there lack luster way of support for WHHS sports! While I agree that the Central Office (Superintendant) has not been responsive or even remotely equitable in his treatment of WHHS, I disagree that this is the only issue here. WHHS made a terrible choice in their last two coaching changes. Instead of looking for people with the players and THEIR futures at heart, they choice the epitome of arrogance and people who were only interested in their own coaching careers who coached with one eye on the highway at all times. They had a candidate in both instances who would have stayed, been successful, worked within the system and made the best of it, and done whatever it took to put many, many kids in college but the administration and selection committees chose to throw him away. I am talking about Enoch Welch. Football's loss is WHHS basketball's gain. Keep an eye on this program. It will be successful and run with class and dignity for years to come.

Please explain the superintendents unequitable treatment????? Who is Enoch Welch?
No I in TEAM Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 After the football field at Franklin County was redone last year, it was in the budget to regrade and sprig the WHHS field this year but WHHS was turned down cold when it came time to start the project. The boosters also had made a proposal to donate materials and was going to build a weight facility because our fieldhouse was cut back in size when built. All that was asked was grading and concrete. Again, the request was brushed aside.

I certainly appreciate the compliments, and I know many people are hurt over another coaching change, but please let it be known that I wish both the WHHS football team and Coach Engstrand the best of luck. I am sure everything will work out for the best for both sides. He is a good football coach and the kids and parents at WHHS are a first class bunch. I enjoyed my four years of coaching football at Bondurant and continue to enjoy coaching boys basketball and softball at Western Hills. Please don't confuse any statements made on here with my or my coaching staffs opinions, we are supportive of everyone involved. Thank you, Coach Welch
bucki Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Word is that Foley from Frankfort has applied. Anyone else?
1&ONLY44 Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Word is that Foley from Frankfort has applied. Anyone else? If that is true I think Foley has now applied for every open job this season.
willydidit Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 If that is true I think Foley has now applied for every open job this season. I believe that Coach Foley has a very great situation at Frankfort and it would surprise me if he did apply. He would do a great job there but I do not see him leaving Frankfort. I may be wrong but wish him well where ever he is next year.

Again, the request was brushed aside. This is a very uninformed statement. I challenge you to drive over to FCHS and look at the feild and see if there is one blade of living grass on it. The board let it all pretty much die last season because they refused to keep it up as it was supposed to after the FCHS football boosters, and only the boosters raised the money and worked to redo the feild. So it has been sprayed with round up to kill the weeds and non-bermuda grass that growed there due to lack of care. FCHS requests also were brushed aside, and recieves 0 funds for football from Central office so I will agree with you on lack of C.O. Requests but your Equitable complaint is completely false. As for the feild house at FCHS it was built from insurance money from one that burnt down several years ago and is used by all sports.
Tall Trees Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I think that the principal at Western Hills, is/was the principal that hired Coach Foley at Frankfort. So, he may want to get back with him? Foley would be go good choice for Western Hills. :thumb:
