This is a very uninformed statement. I challenge you to drive over to FCHS and look at the feild and see if there is one blade of living grass on it. The board let it all pretty much die last season because they refused to keep it up as it was supposed to after the FCHS football boosters, and only the boosters raised the money and worked to redo the feild. So it has been sprayed with round up to kill the weeds and non-bermuda grass that growed there due to lack of care. FCHS requests also were brushed aside, and recieves 0 funds for football from Central office so I will agree with you on lack of C.O. Requests but your Equitable complaint is completely false. As for the feild house at FCHS it was built from insurance money from one that burnt down several years ago and is used by all sports.

I apparently am a victim of false information. Sounds like we feel the same pain when it comes to the Central Office and athletics on both sides of town. I humbly withdraw the inequitable portion of my original comment.

1&only44,

You should really watch what you say. Having talked with Foley he has applied at only 1 place and that was the Jessamine job that was open.

While I agree that the Central Office (Superintendant) has not been responsive or even remotely equitable in his treatment of WHHS, I disagree that this is the only issue here. WHHS made a terrible choice in their last two coaching changes. Instead of looking for people with the players and THEIR futures at heart, they choice the epitome of arrogance and people who were only interested in their own coaching careers who coached with one eye on the highway at all times. They had a candidate in both instances who would have stayed, been successful, worked within the system and made the best of it, and done whatever it took to put many, many kids in college but the administration and selection committees chose to throw him away. I am talking about Enoch Welch. Football's loss is WHHS basketball's gain. Keep an eye on this program. It will be successful and run with class and dignity for years to come.

This angers me that you are getting on here and trying to air out WHHS football matters. I makes me even madder that you have the nerve to call the past two coaches (Mooney and Engstrand) terrible choice's. Mooney got this program turned around and with out him number would not have came up like they did. Engstrand brought a energetic atmosphere to the program as well. Mooney left due to the fact that he wanted to be closer to his family, instead of living two hours apart. That man sacrificed a lot in the two years that he was there and poured his heart and soul into the program. Engstrand left cause he felt that he wasn't getting the support that he needed, and anyone in the coaching profession knows if there is no support then you need to get out. I think you need to watch what you say about the good men that have devoted many hours in the betterment of WHHS football program!

Ok-let me rephrase this--his named has been linked to several jobs this off season--Western Hills/ West Jessamine/ Bourbon County/Henry County etc. Sorry to rile any feathers, CSA-give Coach Foley my best.

You are absolutely correct. I let this get out of hand and made some stupid statements that an adult shouldn't make, no matter how he/she feels. I apologize to all.

The point is neither school gets the support for athletics in general from the BOE. That's why no one wants to stay in Frankfort. Any hard work or improvement is never acknowledged or rewarded. The BOE expects the boosters to foot the bill for most everything athletically and most wind up doing it. Until their are some adminsitrators that have a clue as to how to manage athletics this will become or remain a common theme.

His name has come up for a lot of jobs. But I do believe it's schools contacting him. He has done a good job at Frankfort.

As for all 3 schools in the City of Frankfort it's amazing if the can field teams because the support from the BOE's are vaery limited. Every Coach wants to be somewhere that has made a commitment to there program. Sad part about it all is the only ones that really suffer are the kids.

AMEN to that and thats what the BOE doesn't seem to get!

What's the lastest on this opening? It has not been posted has it? Looks like they would want someone before school is out so they could meet with the players/student body. Any news from the Hill?

Word is that they could start interviews as early as this coming Saturday. I hear that there are 4 applicants interested, only name I know is Barrett their current DC. Other than that all is hush hush!

Coach Barrett is not a teacher. He has been the DC for several years. 10+ would be my guess.
