Pendleton Co. 63 Highlands 52
The ref wanted to T Tanner up after his second personal foul. This in my mind is a ref coming in to the game with a pre-conceived idea that he is going to give a kid a technical. I watched the ref signal a weak foul on Tanner and then he watched Tanner's mouth all the way to the scorer's table and in my mind he was just hoping he could call a T on him to prove a point. This I believe was the same ref who called Tanner for a walk on one of his baskets, this overruled the other ref under the basket who called a foul on PC. And as was stated earlier, this was when the Birds were making their run.

As I said - a frustrating game, and a very frustrating last two minutes

Holy Cross 53 Highlands 50
Frustrating to watch the end of this game. After playing an incredible third quarter, the Birds unraveled in the fourth quarter. For the life of me can't understand why Vories wasn't holding the ball during the last few minutes. Senior leadership can win games like this. Don't want to pick on the younger kids but I don't think they have shown they can handle the pressure when the going gets tough. I thought Hudephol played some valuable minutes last night for the birds. The kids plays tough. I hope the Birds get sent to the free throw line a lot this week at practice or tourney time could get very frustrating. I won't harbor on the poor officiating other than it was hilarious when Smith picked up his third foul. It was such a horrible foul that the refs (all three of them) couldn't figure out who he fouled. You have to give the Indians some credit, they fought back and knew exactly how to win this game.

2006 NKY Freshman Invitational Tournament played at CovCath
No one said CCH didn't do a good tourney, it just seems unfair that they host both frosh and jv every year. As far as attendance you could hold it in any gym and not worry about turning people away. But you have to agree home court advantage is huge. No travel time, play on the court you practice on, a few more fans. I will definitely be talking to administration and find out if it would be as truly easy to move this to another site.

Best Home Court Advantage - Cov Cath

I would love to know why you think CCH has improved more than anyone. Face it they lost to the Birds in their home gym in front of the Cov Cath Crazies, they lost to Holmes, they lost to Scott County. Let's compare notes on the way Cov Cath ends their seasons - Ryle, Frankfort, and Brossart. Highlands ends with Holy Cross, Pendleton Co. and Shelby County and also Boone. But three out of four of these teams will be tough. Two ranked in the top 10 right now. Until CCH prevails over HHS this year they are not the better team.

Highlands/ LLoyd
It was a great senior night for the 6 from Highlands along with the three seniors from the girls team and also the HHS senior cheerleaders. Great crowd for the first half. Student section was awesome as a good crowd of them went behind the bench so the real student section had someone to banter with. Girls and Boys win big. Vories had another great start. Every Bird on the bench had playing time tonight. Some good rest for the starters as they get ready for Holy cross on Friday and Pendleton on Saturday night. Go Birds!

Holmes 67 Highlands 62
That is your view, but others seem to have other views. I think that H on the chest just draws a lot of extra fouls. All I can say is Holmes got this one but look out if or when there is a regional tourney rematch.

Holmes 67 Highlands 62
I think Tanner Johnson has matured a ton over the last four years, I think the refs are looking for something to call on him.

Holmes @ Highlands 2/7
a lot of talk about Vories. He is an awesome player but he didn't win 18 games by himself. He can make things happen if his team is there with him. Look at the game against Bryan Station - 21 points from Tanner, 17 points from Guidugli, Mcgraw had 4 and Smith had 2 and was out with a concussion before half. No one seems to give any credit to Johnson, Guidugli, Smith, Hudepohl, and Eaton for helping Vories look so good. I MHO, there are a lot of screens set to help out Vories. Again no disrespect to Jeff V, but let's now overlook the other 7 that are making big contributions to this team.

Highlands 72 Bryan Station 66
Game was at Lexington Dunbar. Bryan Station is getting a new gym and can't play at home right now. Very physical game, Michael Smith left the game right before half with a concussion. Birds fell behind by as many as 11 but were able to come back in the second half and take Bryan Station out of their game. Hats off to the Birds as they have a 18-2 record in early February. Great coaching job and the kids are really gelling well.

Highlands 60, North Oldham 37
Birds roll to victory 17 on the season. Great win. N.O. was draining the threes but then the birds defense got on them. Bryans Station up next. Vories had 22 to lead the birds. Great tip by Smith to end the first half. All you posters were right, the gym at N.O. was a crackerbox, I thought we were in Highland Middle School with the exception of that terrible teal wall behind the players.

9th Region tourney dates and times
Are these decided yet? Times and Dates of boys games and girls games? I think I heard the boys are at Ryle but I can't find any specifics?

Anyone know the scoring breakdown??

Highlands @ Conner 1/19
There are six seniors and they are all seeing playing time: Ben Guidugli, Tanner Johnson, Jeff Vories, Michael Smith, Chad Hudepohl, and Greg Eaton

I would say that is debatable. Mabye penstripes like you see in Jail.

Highlands 73 Conner 66
Birds go 15-1.

Highlands 59 Ryle 44
Ryle put up a fight but the Birds were just too much in the second half. A very physical game. Birds play some pretty tough defense.

For the record, that is what i said in my post, that the refs did a good job Friday.

Highlands 56 CovCath 54
my apolgies then. I saw a couple of times when two different HHS players were taken down hard, granted there were no technicals resulting from these, it is still frustrating to hear people complain about another particular file. Let's hope both teams end up winning their districts and don't face each other again until the Regional Tourney. Woudn't that make for a good game.

Highlands 56 CovCath 54
I am so tired of hearing about this call not being made. The refs can't be everywhere. I saw several plays on both ends that should have been called and weren't. I thought the refs did a great job on Friday night. Now for Saturday night at NCC-HHS they were terrible. They didn't take control like the guys did at CCH. Get over it- you lost!

Technicals?
the one on the player in the NCC/HHS game was not a technical but an intentional foul. It was reversed.
