Did Brossart peak too early? This final is really surprising to me.

I think Brossart will be fine even though they are hitting a rough stretch right now. Coach Code and his players will right the ship and be ready come district and regional tourny time.

Don't know about Heil, but BB's starting guard Josh Kidney sat out with a sprained ankle, so that part was probably even, as both teams were without a starter. No excuses, NCC just played better at crunch time in the 4th quarter!! Congrats to the NCC seniors who finally got a win vs. Brossart!! Good luck in the 9th region tourney!!

If "playing this way" means not winning, we'll take it as a compliment that we have established a traditon of excellence where we are expected to win all of the time.

 

Losing to Bardstown in the "A" State by 3 was no disgrace.

 

Losing to Mason County coming out of the "A" gets a "Get Out Of Jail Free Card."

 

Playing our butts off and losing to Highlands by 3 or 4 in Fort Thomas is honorable. Many other teams have fared worse.

 

Losing To Newport after digging out of an eleven point hole that we dug for ourselves is inexcusable - chalk one up for our critics.

 

Losing to NCC without Kidney, or with Mutsch returning after being off school Mon-Tues-Wed and on 3-antibiotics, and Cooper sick and missing school on Tuesday, is disappointing, but not inexcusable. It's always disappointing to lose to NCC.

 

CovCath, who has never won in the SyDome in four attempts comes to call on Tuesday. A win over the Colonels will make everything OK, but I guess a loss will be more "playing this way."

 

This team is very similar to what Willie Schlarman had at Highlands last year (9-20) only we have achieved some success (15-5/AIT Champs/All "A" State Semi-Finalists/37th District Top Seed). While we are not over-achieving at the desired level at the present moment and beating everybody we play, this team works and cares way too much to be accused of "Playing this way" because we are not winning to some folks expectations.

To beat Holmes and Brossart without him shows that the team has not suffered. I may be wrong, but could this have been a blessing in disguise? You never know who will step up to play when the coach calls your number. Kids are uncoachable these days because they spend to much time listening to their parents/friends, instead of listening to their coaches.
