Both teams battled throughout what was a physical game. The Raiders missed too many shots that they need to make and did not hit a 3 for the game. I thought both teams played well defensively but the Birds D did not allow as many easy baskets as did the Raiders D. Fun game to watch. I continue to say that the Birds are the darkhorse team in the 9th with a chance to win the region. Vories and Simpson are a good guard combo.

Yes. I only saw one play the entire game where a Birds player threw an intentional elbow but it was not Ben. I thought he played a very solid game and was in double figures in points, not sure about rebounds.

Three quick points_

1) Vories was pretty quiet the first half and the birds played great team ball, Eaton did alot of things that won't show up in the books, on the floor scraping for loose balls battling the boards and palying good D, Hudy and Smith came in for some good quality minutes and gave the starters some good breathers.

2) It was good to see Tanner play with some fire tonight, he was really battling and calling for it inside, Nic Simpson scored when it was needed and played great, i really was impressed that the boys made those extra passes on the fast breaks they finished a lot of good runs tonight

3) Was #25 for Ryle in the coaches doghouse tonight, it seemed that when he was in he gave our defense a little trouble and thier offense ran better, he like simpson could split the lane and score when needed. He also got them out on alot of fast breaks, why didn't he play more and am i the only one who saw this?

I don't think either team shot the ball well from the outside. I can only recall 1 three point shot being made by Highlands by Ben G. The physical nature of the game, holding, hand checking, pushing and shoving by both teams just takes away from the game. We could have still been there had they called all the fouls.

Both teams tried to push it and often forced the ball and therefore took a lot of shots that were out of control and ill advised in my opinion.

Birds did not shoot well from the free throw line either.

But a win is a win and we will take it. Next up Conner.

I have only seen about 1/3 of the Ryle games and it seems that #25, Josh Morgan, is their best true point guard but tends to force shots and not give it up sometimes when someone else is open. There does appear to be some disenchantment on his part and I do not know what goes on behind the scenes or in practices that keeps him from playing more. I can definitely see where you are coming from as to Josh being in the coaches' doghouse. Every game I have seen, he makes some impressive moves and can create with the basketball due to his great athletic ability. He made a nice strip on Simpson. Ryle certainly needs more scoring threats on the court at all times so hopefully they can get things worked out if there are problems between Josh and the coaches. I love to watch him play the game as he always hustles and brings excitement to the floor.
