I do agree about Coach Whitaker being very stubborn that game. It still Baffles me that Matt was used as little as he was. We had some other backs that could generate yardage but Matt was the bread and butter. If we would have stuck with running Bargo, it would have freed up Ricky, Lucas, Mondo, Baker, and anyone else he wanted Danny to throw to. I also agree about announcing the Breathitt score. Everyone was looking ahead to that game all year long. I'm not going to dwell on it but there is no doubt that Breathitt would have went down and the question mark on the scoreboard would have had a 96 on it if not for all of that. To this day, that was the best team I have seen, played, been a part of, or just heard of in Eastern Kentucky. The line was dominating and huge, the backs were dominating and huge, the QB was money,and the WR's had great hands. Hopefully this years group of Hounds can exorcise those demons from 1996 and redeem the Pride and Tradition left out on the field that night.

Manns isn't starting until after football season right? If so, that will be a big boost to Corbin. I'm not conceding the GRC game but he'd be a big body to push Vinny Zollo around next week.

I'm in the not counting anyone out camp. Will Corbin be favored? No doubt. Will they be favored by a good margin? Yes. Should they be? Probably. Do I think that is right? It's reasonable. However, I don't think that Corbin is or should be looking past Bath County. They will be convincing favorites and rightfully sow but Bath County is an 8-3 team. Most schools would be tickled to have that record. They've lost games this year but they have won more than half of their games. These kids know how to win. Plus they will have their backs against the wall in a win or go home situation against 2A's best team (according to the rankings). A lot of teams are just happy with a good effort in those situations but when you are used to winning like Bath County, you expect to win the game and will come out swinging. I'm only going from what I've read but Bath County will probably be overmatched but if they play with heart, that can trump anything. I remember back in 1996, Corbin was undefeated and just destroying competition. They held one of the best teams I have seen. A few weeks early, Corbin beat the tar out of a Madison Southern team 49-26 I believe. These two teams met up in the playoff just a few weeks later. Corbin was probably looking ahead and maybe reading their press clippings a little too much. What I saw that November night was a Madison Southern team who had no chance in hades to win the game according to fans and pundits come down to Corbin and win in overtime. These are the playoffs and you have two 1-0 teams during this new season that are trying to advance and give their seniors at least one more week to play. Corbin better be ready. Corbin 42 Bath 18

I for one am in the camp of thinking that it would be more logical just having the top 2 teams make the playoffs. My reasoning is that a lot of games are just wasted trips for teams, could avoid potential injuries, save money for people. However, I don't have a problem with 4 teams making the playoffs. It creates more revenue for schools, gives kids an extra game to play the sport in which they love, and gives us fans something to do on a Friday night. In the future, I would personally be fine with whatever decision.

The good thing about being a fan is that we don't need to take it one game at a time. We can talk the what ifs til we are blue in the face. Coach Jewell won't allow the players to do that.

I'm sayin Corbin vs. Ft. Campbell Corbin brings home #6 21-14

I think Coach Jewell has too much class to go throw a big 70-0 or 83-0 type whipping on a team. In games like this, the starters usually get about 1.5 quarters of action. Once it gets to around 40-0 they are pulled. He may keep them in just a little longer this week though so the score may be worse. The reasoning wouldn't be to try and rub it in against these kids. Corbin had this past week off so the team will be needing to get their playing legs back under them. Plus now that it's the playoffs, they will need to get back in the swing of things.

That Open team that Corbin faces is quite tricky to get a read on. I hear they are undefeated this year as well. However they've yet to win a game also. Open's offense is pretty equal between the run and pass. Their D has yet to be scored on but is virtually non existent. I'm going out on a limb and saying that Morgan County will be facing an undfeated team first round of the playoffs.

I know it's a two way deal. I'm just saying anything that I wouldn't do anything if it benefited South Laurel. Then again if we didn't play, I'd have no reason to hate them the way I do.

I really don't want to slight any team in the area because each and every kid play their hardest and work just as hard as anyone else. How in the world can Corbin agree to play every team in the area. What would there be to prove? I have nothing but respect for Lynn Camp and Williamsburg. I really really do. If they were to play 10 games, Corbin would at least win 9 out of the 10 and there is a really good chance of sweeping them. Don't ask me why that is but it's how it shakes out most years. I'd like to see Whitley on the schedule but I'd also like to see Danville and Boyle on there which may be the case soon. If I had my druthers, give me Danville and Boyle when it comes to being a bigger game. If I had my pick, I'd rather play Whitley than South. Not because of a competative factor but because of the fact Whitley and Corbin are similar and would provide good games. South provides good games but I just simply do not like South Laurel and would just as soon not have Corbin do anything to help them out. I'd like to see North replaced by a Harlan Co, Rockcastle, or Bell County. The fact just is, Corbin cannot lay down to appease every team in the Tri-County area.

Jarrod came to Corbin before his sophomore year. The R word was thrown around a lot but he became eligible for the Bell County game on. The following year, Brad (no relation) came to Corbin. I assume Jarrod was a legit move but people will always throw the assumptions around when players of these two caliber leave. However, I can say with 100% knowledge that Brad was a legit move. I am not even sure that Coach Jewell and company were aware of Brad Lawson until he enrolled at Corbin. Brad was initially ruled eligible before the start of the district slate and played the last 3 or 4 games of the season. He was then ruled ineligble and didn't get to play during the playoff run to the State title game. That is the deal with the Lawson's. Things got testy between the schools during the rulings. I'm pretty certain that Mr. Anderson still has some bad blood with Corbin and AD/former coach Campbell may still hold a grudge. From all accounts I've heard, this is the same reason Corbin and Bell are having some issues just substitute Jarrod and Brad Lawson for T.R. Christopher. I think with Coach Black at the Helm, Corbin and Whitley will square off soon.

I'd like to play LC and Wburg occasionally. Maybe they would be a team we could rotate on the schedule. With all due respect, MOST (not all) years, it should be an easy win and provide a good gate. That could fit into the slot where a Bethlehem is. However, I'd ask for it to be at Campbell Field every year but split up the earnings. Whitley is a game that should be on the schedule as well as Bell. Hopefully now that Campbell is not coaching, Corbin and Whitley can hook it up. Whitley has had some teams in the past that could provide a good game for Corbin and maybe even knock the hounds off in some years. It'd be a real exciting draw. I say that is a series that needs to be alternated with South Laurel. There are only so many games a team can play. You don't want to over-do the schedule but you don't want a bunch of junk on there either.

I think you will see Corbin and Whitley play before too long. A few years ago, Whitley was in the Pigskin Classic at Corbin and was granted the right to choose their opponent. They selected to play Conner when Corbin was there for them to choose. With Coach Black there, I can see him wanting to schedule the game. Whether or not Lonnie Anderson allows it to happen is yet to be seen. Corbin would welcome the game. I'd rather see Whitley than South Laurel on the schedule or do it on a rotating basis. You could have them both on there if you choose to and rotate someone else.

I think Corbin will win the game but it will be a great game. However, I don't think anything will top last years game when it comes to entertainment. For my selfish reasons, I hope it's over and Corbin thumps them real good. For the fan in me, I wish it was half as close to being as fun as last season.

I am not real sure because I've not saw those teams play but I'd say they would match up quite well. Ft. Campbell may be a little too much on paper but that's why they play the games. Green County and Corbin used to be in the same district and Corbin regularly had their way. Anthony Farrior's senior year they came to Corbin and handed Corbin a narrow defeat in 2000. That was the only regular season district loss Coach Jewell has ever had since taking over in 1999 (lost in 99 to district opponent Taylor Co). Corbin turned around and beat Green 40 something-18 in the region title game that year.

I'd say you will start to see the JV and Freshman playing from here on out. Maybe one more series for the starters. We score here, I'm gonna run with Boomhauer down to Applebees or something.
