I think Corbin and Shelby Valley have potential to take state but I really wouldn't call them Cinderella. Both have been top 10 virtually all season and have established themselves in the upper tier teams in KY. They may be a notch below Holmes, Eastern, and Scott County but are plenty capable of beating those teams. I would say that Hazard could be a Cinderella. They came in with a lot of hype this season and have kind of fallen back a little. They are plenty good enough to beat any team on a given night. They knocked off Corbin in the Summer after coming from about 10 down. They have one of the states best point guards..well at least one of the most underrated with Whitaker. Campbell and Jones give them some solid size as well.

You are right. Central and South are the teams who would only be fair without St. John or Miller. Id say Pineville is only a fair team with Strange carrying the load. I just lumped them all three together.

If you are going on who means more to their team, I would say it would be Strange, St. John or Cody Miller. Take them away and the teams are only fair. If it goes to the best player on the best team it's Crawford. If it goes to most complete, I would say Crawford gets it too. The Corbin in me wants to say Crawford as I think he probably is the best player. However, part of me is wanting to say Strange. I think if you put him on a team like Corbin, he would be 1st team all state and Corbin would probably be sitting at 26-0 and ranked #1 in Kentucky. Put him on South Laurel, they'd be neck and neck with Corbin. Put him on KC, they'd be right up there too.

I can remember back when it was the Thomas, Cox, Jones, Lester, and Simpson bunch taking on, Pietrowski, McDaniel, Sipple, Bennett, and those boys too. You absolutely could not get a seat in the gym. One year Corbin and Harlan were ranked #1 and #2 in Kentucky. The next year I believe Harlan was #1 and Corbin was #2. Those games were great. Corbin vs. South Laurel couldn't even top those rivalries between Corbin and Harlan.

Actually a closer game than I thought when I saw the score posted on KHSAA. Weird to say due to it being 38 point win. These 50 and 60 point victories are spoiling me:eek:. Anyone have any info, I didn't go to the game.

The anchor man says it great at the end. "That's just great." Truly a fine storybook ending of a high school career for a remarkable young man. Hats off to Tony Pietrowski for giving this young man a chance to live a dream.

I heard there were two technicals early in the game. Maybe that set the tone for some fans being upset.

Didn't make it to the game but just wanted to see how this one played out for those that went. Another lopsided win for the Redhounds against the cross town opponents. Nice to see these two teams hook up in the regular season. Being these two being cross town teams that rarely play, how was the atmosphere and intensity?

I know they are a great team but I have heard that it's pretty much the starting five and then a pretty hefty drop off. I know most of the players names but I was just wondering what were the sizes of the starters for the Lions?

That's great that the Cowden kid got to get into a game and even score some points. I'm sure just getting to dress in a varsity game would have made his night. To get in and score 8 points is a story that can be looked back upon for years. Hats off to Tony Pietrowski for making this kid's senior season special. What were some of the stats and highlights?

Another week another good set of rankings. The 13th region has been a roller coaster this year with the exception of Corbin. I think the Hounds are clearly the favorites but as South and KC proved, they can be knocked off. Just goes to show how rivalries can make rankings go to the can during the regular season. It's hard to fathom a team that loses to Clinton County can beat Corbin and a team that gets drilled by Clay and dominated over the break can beat the Hounds too. I hate Corbin lost those two games but that's why I love the rivalries in Eastern Kentucky. The overall strength may be down in the 13th with the exception of Corbin but the pride of all of these schools are still alive and well. I think we are going to be in for a fun next 3 weeks.

For a change, I actually wasn't taking a jab at South with the dynasty comment.:lol: They are without question the closest thing to a dynasty since the Clay days though. I remember last year up at Central they were all throwing up that Dynasty sign that Ramel Bradley did and a bunch of the students were wearing shirts that spelled out Dynasty at Rupp all in good fun.

Obviously I expect another Corbin vs. South rematch. Williamsburg has talent but I'd say Corbin takes them. As for Whitley, they aren't really impressive on a consistant basis as their record indicates. However, when they are on, they can play with and potentially beat any team in the 13th region. They have had so many close calls with South over the past two seasons. It wouldn't surprise me in the least bit to see them knock the cards off. I wish all 4 teams the best of luck but will obviously be pulling for my hounds. Last night was a prime example of why Josh Crawford is the best player in the region. He could put these numbers up on a consistant basis but he is very unselfish. However, when there is a game where he can dominate, he does just that. Although I think he should have stayed at the 3 his 4 years, him in the paint is very effective at the high school level. He is much too strong for any of the post players. If he comes someone who is similar or close in strength such as St. John, he can beat them with quickness. His unselfishness has caused a lot of people the not hype him as much since his knee injury. I just wanted to give him the credit he deserves.

Yes, Crawford did rebound the ball really well. I wouldn't doubt if he had 15 or 16 boards.

Crawford had a nice game with 33 according the the radio. Johnson had 18 with a nice alley oop and breakway dunk. Green led Middlesboro with 22.

Good list and I too think that Clay County will be a force down the stretch. I think teams like Corbin and South would fare better against them due to Clay not having that big bruiser they are so accustomed to having in the past. However, they have some nice guard play and when those boys get hot, 3 points > 2 points. Keep an eye out on the Tigers.

From what I could tell, Williamsburg didn't even score in the 2nd quarter.

Is it just me or has Smith went from being the forgotten man to the most consistant player for the Hounds? I'm not sure of the averages and from reading the article in the Times, it doesn't seem the team cares who scores the most. Smith always seems to be leading the way. Crawford and Johnson step up when necessary and will give Corbin a 30 point night if needed but on a consistent basis, Smith seems to be gettin 16 or 17 points. I'm proud of how Corbin has stepped it up this year, put personal glory aside and playing for the name across the jersey.

I know Elliot has a ton of talent and will more than likely win the game but I don't think I'm crazy saying that despite all of the talent on EC, Pineville's James David Strange will be the best player on the floor. He doesn't have much around him but he sure is tougher than boot leather.

I heard that the former slam dunk champion and current Atlanta Hawk had a good game for the Hounds. Anyone have any stats?
