Bubba Wilson Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Corbin 102 Harlan 56 I hope they get to play. Sounds like the Flu is running rapid in Harlan County.
bigbluefan02 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Corbin by bunches!! And then the fun starts on Monday!!!
Cawoodball player Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I don't think Corbin will have any trouble in this one. I'm interested to see how these young players perform against the Redhounds. Harlan is prime for a run in a couple of years. Both schools in Harlan County are filled with young talent!
Les Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 So is Knox Central, South Laurel and Clay County. I don't see Harlan making any type of a region run for a few years.
HDE Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 How many years is a few? Harlan County's freshmen beat South and KC at a tournament early in the season. Rosspoint played South within four in the eighth-grade regional tournament.
Les Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 South Laurel beat Clay County in the finals of the 13th Region Tournament of the eighth grade Tournament. One of South's best players didn't even play against Rosspoint in the Cardinals' four-point win. Knox Central beat Corbin in the seventh grade finals of the 13th Region Tourney (South Laurel didn't compete participate in the tourney) and the South sixth grade finished as state runner-ups. Freshmen? Ummm, you got me there. And, as for Harlan (not Harlan County) being a legit contender, let's see probably more than a few. As for prediction of the Harlan/Corbin score. Redhounds by six touchdowns.

Rosspoint is only one school out of eight (the best team though) going into Harlan County, so I think the potential is there to be competitive with anyone in the 13th. As for Harlan, they have the best group they've had in a while coming up. They will likely be a favorite among Class A schools in a couple of years and competitive against the bigger schools. I'm getting the popcorn at the regional. I should have tried double or nothing on the Lynn Camp-Harlan game, but I'll admit that I was surprised at that one considering Harlan lost one of its best players and hadn't been playing well.
Les Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 I wouldn't have made that bet HDE. The Campers are struggling and really aren't playing too disclipined on either side of the ball. That was a HUGE win by the Dragons with Fields out. So I have to give props to the Green Dragons.
wideopen Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 This use to be a great rival game in the early to late 90's. Jones was the coach @ Harlan and Corbin had two great coaches also Hicks and Deaton.
