There is no such thing as a good loss but hopefully these games will wake up the Hounds. I've seen Corbin play where they look as good as any team in the state. They have that type of potential. I don't think they are overrated at all when it comes to them playing to their capabilities. However, they tend to get very lackadaisical and complacent. When they do that, they are not worthy of their ranking. I think a few very tough practices and Coach P showing some tough love could go a long way. Maybe sitting a player or two that aren't producing would do the trick.

I think it will be a good game as all Corbin and South teams were. Last season Corbin went up to South and took it to them early in the year. Truth be told, that was probably the most accurate of who was more talented and all of that. Corbin even did this without Crawford. However, South came back to Corbin and whipped the Hounds. They had two epic battles in district and region play too. Down at Whitley it was a pretty good game. Then up in the region, Corbin was wearing South out only to come out on top. All in all, this game is a game you cannot pick with a good conscience. You can throw out who is more talented, who has home court, and all of that. This game comes down to who is more fired up on the night when the ball is tipped. Two years ago, South was worlds better and Corbin gave them all they wanted. Last year Corbin was the better team but South took 3 of 4. Tonight is the same story. Corbin is the better team on paper but you don't know until it's finalized. All I do know is that it's a fun game to watch and this will be the first of 6 potential meetings between these two bitter enemies. Home and Home, Hoopin it Up, Cumberland Falls, District, and Region.

I hate it for the Simon Kenton kids but I hope T wins more impressively than 51-0. That whipping my beloved Redhounds took in 2002 needs to be out done.

Who in the Devil is this FCI Academy I see on the schedule? Are they any count?

Miller is no doubt the real deal as is the freshman Broughton. He will be a player to keep an eye out on in the future and even this season. Messer is also prone to give Corbin fits with his awkward yet effective shot. I imagine Josh Brown and Seth Bingham round out the other key players as well as Canady. I think Crawford and Manns should be able to have their way in the post. Johnson and Smith will go tit for tat with Messer and Miller as usual. The big key will be Wilson at the point against Broughton and Canady. I think his experience and quickness will prove to be too much. Corbin's depth should allow them to pull away around the 3rd quarter. If this were a regular game, I'd say Corbin would walk but being the rivalry it is, you can bet the farm the Panthers will make it interesting. If I were guessing the Hounds should pull out a 14-17 point win which i'd say 5 or 6 points could be free throws at the end (Hounds HAVE TO HIT THEM). However, if the Panthers get into early foul trouble, look out. It could get ugly quick.

Tubular win for the Redhounds. Who looked good for the Big red? Any stats? Friday night at K.N.O.X. will be a nice game.

I don't like the outcome one bit but just as last year, the NCC faithful were all class. I hope everyone was treated as good as we were last season. You all have a fine program and one that I respect greatly. The kids and coach Schneider are pure class. I just hope we get to beat you all next year if we play. Good luck and bring home state. If we can't be the champs, I want the champs to be the team to knock us out. Good luck.

Good game overall tonight. Maybe it was a little closer than the final score indicates but hats off to NCC. Their D was stellar. Sure injuries played a part but that was a small part. Corbin had some penalties that pushed them back and NCC made some very nice tackles for loss. IT seems like we'd move it well on first or second only to take a TFL and be put into passing situations. As NCC got the lead, they forced us to stray from our bread and butter and go with the passing game. I would say that Freeman passed more tonight than he did in half of the games this year. I credit that to the NCC staff and players. A tremendous amount of talent was on the field. It's sad it had to end for one of them. Best of luck to the Breds.

HAHA I like that comparison. I would say Corbin would be very similar to Alabama. Both are tradition rich programs with many big prizes to show in their storied history. Both teams are old school smashmouth teams. Both schools do not give into the flashy fashions as they have kept virtually the same uniform for as long as I can remember. Oh yea, both are ranked #1 by the AP and are undefeated yet everyone is picking against them in what would be the second to last game of the season. Heck of a win for the Hounds. I know both teams aren't at full strength with the football players not playing but a W is a W. Anyone have any stats?

I wasn't there but I know that's what UK uses for their pro days. I imagine it's what they use at camps. I know Joker has talked about using them at camps in the past. Id say that's what they used last summer.

That's good news. I saw him at the game last week and he had his shoulder in some big contraption following surgury too. Hope for nothing but the best for the young man.

13th Corbin- Nice, clean, and good view lines South Laurel- Shows the tradition with photos, banners, etc. North Laure- Is huge but it's hard to see from the upper deck Clay and Bell also have some very nice gyms. I've heard Harlan County's gym is phenomenal and can't wait to see that. Two other gyms that I always liked were Evarts and Cumberland. Both are very small and not very accomodating but you could get the high school game feel. I always liked Cumberland's little cracker box with the lockerooms down in the holes at mid court and the big Indian on the wall.

I watched the NCC/Ryle game on Wazoo Sports. NCC looked very good but I believe that Corbin can match up with them and give them all they want and then some. Should be a good one. The Escalante kid (#82) could be dangerous in the passing game with his size.

:laugh: Ain't that the truth. We'll pass when need be but 90% of the time we are going to pound the ball on the ground. You never know if it's going to be right up the gut, off tackle, or to the outside.

I think WYMT should start ranking LCA in the Mountain Top 10. I swear they have played more mountain teams than some mountain teams play.

Campbell Field is located in downtown Corbin. Here are the directions. I-75 Southbound -Exit 29 Corbin/Barbourville exit and make a left onto 25 E -Go to the 25W junction (first red light past Taco Bell) -Make right at the light and you will pass up KFC on your right. -Just before you go up a hill, you will see a red sign saying Redhound Football Stadium and have an arrow. From there you will see the lights. Be safe and hope you have a great visit to Corbin. I just hope yall don't win.

I think 11 on 11 Corbin matches up well with just about any team. However 4chs could be onto something with the depth thing. Fritts being in this backfield would have really made Corbin dangerous. You'd have 3 running backs capable of putting up 150 yards on any given night. Heck throw Taylor in there and you never can tell, he could too if he gets loose. With all of that said, I am starting to get more and more confident as the week goes on. I'm not necessarily so sure that is a good thing on my part. Last week I would admit to being nervous but I'll admit I would have been willing to put the farm on Prestonsburg if I had to. I just had a bad feeling. Maybe the Bath County game was bad for 2A and good for Corbin afterall. The Hounds really seemed to be woke up and playing with a serious chip on their shoulder. If the kids come out there and play to their potential, don't over amp and try to do too much, they will keep on rolling.

Channing Fugate- RB Breathitt County Caleb Watkins- RB Corbin Ryan Fritts- RB Corbin Those are three of the top players in the Mountains that first come to mind. There are many others around here that I have left out im sure.

I forgot about the dropped TD pass by Watkins. I'm assuming that is what was being referred to when it was said that a player has a little something to prove. I hope he does but I don't want him to think too much about it. What's done is done and I hope he didn't put last years loss on his shoulders. I just hope he goes out there and plays to his capabilities. If he does, there will not be a better back on that field.

Last year Corbin went into Newport ranked #2 and NewCath was #1. This year the #2 Thoroughbreds travel down to Corbin to take on the #1 Redhounds. This game should be one for the ages. I honestly think NCC may be a tad better but if the Corbin faithful show up in full force, you better not count them out. Corbin will be looking for blood from last year.
