Corbin 75 Clay County 62

Featured Replies

Corbin led by as much as 22 points in the third quarter before Clay got as close as 11.

Nice early season win for Corbin. Clay is not a bad team...

Tubular win for the Redhounds. Who looked good for the Big red? Any stats? Friday night at K.N.O.X. will be a nice game.

The Hounds are trying to prove their the best team in the 13th early with this schedule. All they need is to play South soon and they will have played the majority of the heavy weights in the region. Knox and Clay in a week is tough. But I guess that's the way you have to play them come region time.

They got South on Tuesday

This game was not as close as the score indicates. Clays game plan was to try and isolate their point guard but it didnt work too well. What did keep Clay from being blown out was hitting some 3's and out hustling Corbin late in the 3rd and early 4th quarter. Corbin adjusted their defense and maintained the lead. Corbin just got 1 of their starters back tonight from football and still has 2 key reserves on the bench who are out with injury (Watkins ankle and Hopkins wrist). Both should be back within 2-3 weeks and will add much needed depth to the rotation. Corbins 2nd five would be a very good team in itself. They have the luxury of playing against 5 very good players everyday in practice.

Corbin played well in spurts, shot well from the outside in the first half and not very well in the 2nd half. Clay got way too many second chance points, some were due to their hustle and some were caused by dribble penetration which required help defense, therefore leaving Clay players unchecked for the rebound.

I was really impressed by Wilson's floor game for Corbin and Reed for Clay is quite a player. Madison Johnson took a bad spill early in the 3rd qtr. and hurt his wrist, not sure how bad he hurt it though.

The score was closer than the game really was. Corbin was pretty balanced but missed some free throws. Have to give Clay credit for not folding the tents when they were down by 20+ points. Corbin quit attacking the basket late in the 3rd and Clay hit a couple of 3s but this game was over early in the 1st. I dont see Clay hanging with South though.

What in the world is a tubular win:lol: I felt Corbin would win this tough game at home and it should be quite a game at KC as well, but IMO the Hounds will roll there as well.

I think Clay is a very good team. They will be a force to be reckoned with come post season if they can survive the brutal schedule Coach Spurlock has put together for them. South looked impressive in a win over Lafayette, Missouri as well and will be in the mix. It is really early and lots of things can change as the season unfolds. Any updates on Johnson's hand injury?

The game was FAR from over early in the first quarter.

Corbin led 19-13 going into the second quarter and 27-20 with 3:39 remaining in the half. They used a 15-6 run to go ahead 40-26 at halftime.:thumb:

It's a very similar thing to a Bodacious or Gnarly win.:walk::ylsuper:

I think it means nice, groovy, excellent.....sort of an 80's term that was laid to rest after Bill and Ted's Adventure went off Cinemax....lol

Clay is a very dangerous team, I was impressed by a lot of the things they did and they will only get better as the season goes along.
