Yessir they played awful good on D. That Gearhart feller got loose a time or two but they did a good job keepin him and 80 in check.

Corbin 20 Prestonsburg 7
Thanks for the kind words and support from the cross town faithful. I cannot be more proud than I am right now of the Hounds. The defense was hard hitting and tough as new rope tonight. Campbell ran like a bulldozer and nobody could bring him down. Watkins ran like Zansabar the Lippazanner stallion and Taylor was able to change the pace and get to the outside. Gearhart is a tough player for the Blackcats. There was a time or two that I thought he could have had 6 but the QB totally missed him. Best of luck to Prestonsburg next year. Hopefully the Hounds will be out for blood next week and put all of their focus on the task at hand. You can do it Hounds. 1 at a time. Bring #6 back to Corbin. I'm tired of seeing that stupid question mark on the scoreboard.

2A: Prestonsburg/Corbin Updates
Corbin 14 pburg 0 Halftime

Corbin 85 George Rogers Clark 44 Scrimmage
This is the score I heard. All I can say is WOW. Does anyone have any details. Pretty impressive for Corbin to do this to the #6 ranked team in the state without Aaron Manns in the post.

Prestonsburg Vs. Corbin
Did Pburg leave early in order to rest and get a bite after the bus ride which is quite long? Good luck to them but no too much. For all of you Blackcat fans making the trip, be safe.

Prestonsburg Vs. Corbin
The Corbin field appeared to be in spectacular condition. The week of the big rain (last week of the season), Corbin had the week off. That is one thing Corbin has always managed to do. If at all possible and unless there is just an absolute downpour during playing action, the field is going to be in tip top shape. The only drawback I could possibly see is that it may be a little hard right now due to the cold.

Prestonsburg Vs. Corbin
Last week, Corbin got all they could handle from Bath County. I know Bath is a good team and all but don't let the final margin fool you. The Wildcats brought it Friday night. Yes Corbin could have had 3 more touchdowns considering the two turnovers in the redzone and the incomplete pass before the half from the 5. Regardless, it was not a good game by the Hounds. In fact it was the worst I have saw Corbin since the Middlesboro game. Prestonsburg is going to be a whole different animal. I hope someone can convince me that I am having this bad feeling simply because it is alright to be nervous around Region title time as most teams are pretty much even and could win on a given night. It's going to take a vallient effort by Corbin. These Blackcats from Floyd County aren't going to drive the long drive to just play for pride and want to leave with a moral victory. They are going to give the #1 team in the State all they have in them and leave it on the field. I'm hoping that last week's effort was just Corbin being rusty from not really being challenged in over a month. I hope these kids realize what potential they hold and that they can go down as local heroes as long as they play to their potential. One thing I ask is for every Corbin fan on here to show up, bring your family, friends, and guest from out of town visiting for the Holidays to Campbell Field Friday Night. These kids have been perfect all year long and deserve to have a crowd toughing out the cold temps, being rowdy, and cheering them on like they have never seen before. Lets all make Campbell Field live up to the hype of the Tradition that goes with Corbin football. There is no room for failure from us fans as the players have yet to let us down.

Prestonsburg Vs. Corbin
Corbin is smashmouth. They'll line up and run it down your throat until your can't walk. 3 very good backs even with the leading rusher out for the year from a midseason injury. One is about a 240 pound bruiser, the other is a 200 plus pound speedster, and the 3rd is a young talent who has been valuable catching the ball and running to the outside. Corbin has a first year senior starter at QB. He's been a pleasant surprise this year. He doesn't throw it much and really hasn't had the need to. However when he has, he has looked good. He has nice feet and can turn nothing into something. The D has been pretty solid at stopping the run sans the Pikeville/LCA games. Both of those teams have running backs that will run on anyone. The pass D hasn't been tested too much but they have did well when forcing passing teams. South Laurel put up 21 but 1 of those was on the ground. I think the Corbin D is pretty solid. However, someone else will be able to answer these better as I've not been to as many games as I would have liked to.

Prestonsburg Vs. Corbin
I hope you are right TNT fan but Prestonsburg will be the first big test for the Hounds in quite a while. Bath gave Corbin a fight but the Hounds were able to out talent them. This game they will have to use the talent they have and have them clicking. They will also have to play mistake free football and execute. I've not seen Prestonsburg's line but as most successful mountain teams, im sure they are big and physical. Corbin's O Line will have to play great and get a strong push to create for the backs. Watkins and Campbell will need some serious touches. Taylor has provided a great spark but I'd go with my two big guns on O for the most part. Taylor would be a good valve for the short passing game and get the blockers to create some space for him in the open field. It's definitely not going to be a walk in the park. I'd like to see Corbin continue getting good field position on their drives in the return game.

Prestonsburg Vs. Corbin
Corbin 34 Prestonsburg 27

Prestonsburg 20 Middlesboro 7
If you see two corners in man and 9 in the box, you can bet you are playing Middlesboro.

Look forward to it.

Corbin 30 Bath Co. 8
I do too. Based on the hype and weather, I can understand the turnout but next week we need a crowd and a half. People view Corbin as somewhat of a Mecca of mountain football. Prestonsburg is right up there too and id hate to let them down. Plus these kids have busted their humps to give us what we have always wanted..that is perfection. They deserve the support as do the coaches.

On Sports Overtime they said Corbin vs. Pburg is at Pburg. Im almost 100 percent it's at Corbin.

Corbin 30 Bath Co. 8
The one play i was confused on was right before halftime. We had 40 seconds, called a timeout. We should have lined up and tried to punch it in from the one yard line. If we don't get it, call the time out and set something up. We called the timeout, had a false start and had to throw. Should have kicked the FG.

LCA 69 Williamsburg 48
Sounds like a battle of two defensive titans out there. Congrats LCA. Also I would like to congratulate Billburg on a great season. I know yall didnt reach your ultimate goal but this season was nothing to hang your head about.

Corbin 30 Bath Co. 8
I agree, there was a lot of bad calls. The offensive pass interference on Sewell was awful. Things did get chippy. I heard some Bath fans yelling for them to "Take out 42", "Take out 34", "#4 is a Punk, they aint gonna call it so get a cheap shot in". That was sad to hear people saying to injure kids. I will say that Corbin was getting a little mouthy too but I didn't see any dirty play from them.

Corbin 30 Bath Co. 8
Corbin definitely didn't look good tonight but good teams keep winning despite lackluster play. I don't want to disrespect Bath County but Corbin played horrendous. Was it the cold? Was it overlooking? It was a little of both but I tip my hat to the kids of Bath County. They played hard throughout the night and made Corbin earn it. I think this game could serve as a wakeup call for the Redhounds. Congrats on a fine season Bath County and keep winnin Hounds.

2A Commonwealth Championship Game
I too would like to see Ft. Campbell and Corbin. I wouldn't mind seeing Danville either just for the Aura that would be around the game with all of the tradition. However, Ft. Campbell is who I'd like to see Corbin play. They have been tagged the best team and are the defending champs so you'd really see what kind of team you are holding if you were Corbin. All schools have to take care of business before hand, because there are no easy games left. I would also like to see a Corbin/NCC rematch in the semis. That was one classy bunch last year. They treated us Corbin fans well and with respect. I'd love to be able to do the same for them.

Brrrrrr!!!! Cold This Friday
Don't worry, they are in the washer right now. I can't tell if it's the UK stink or spilled bourbon and milldew from them getting soaked last Saturday that's making them reek. They've been on my deck for dang near a week. They'll be Lilac fresh after being washed with this fine washer liquid.

Bath County at Corbin predictions
I think if Corbin plays well, they should win by 2 to 3 tds. That's not slighting Bath in the least bit. However, I don't necessarily have a bad feeling but I too think this is going to be a better game than I expected at first and most people are expecting. I don't like the fact that Corbin has been destroying the last 4-5 teams. I like keeping the key players fresh instead of resting them up but also understand not running the scores up on a group of kids. The key for Corbin in this game is getting out to a quick start. We all know Bath will be playing with their backs to the wall and with nothing to lose. If Corbin can jump out to a quick two score lead, I like their chances of living up to most people's predictions. If they let the Wildcats hang around for a while, the tables will turn and Bath will gain confidence. Here's to a good game and a safe trip to the Bath County fans. Hope the roads don't get too bad. Snow's coming down awful hard in Lexington right now.

Brrrrrr!!!! Cold This Friday
That 02 State Finals was awfully cold and it was in the middle of the day. That was pretty dang cold that game. I remember seeing all of the piles of snow piled up along the wall at old Cardinal Stadium from the big snow the 2 days before. Two other Corbin games I remember being very cold were during the 2000 season. Corbin vs. Larue County couldn't have been more than 20 degrees. The week prior when Corbin played Green County in Greensburg, the temps had to be in the low teens. That was the awfullest time ever was. Looks like I'll be pulling out the coveralls again tomorrow after wearing them to UK vs. Vandy.

What team has the toughest road to PJS?
Wouldn't Ft. Campbell vs. Corbin be a cool matchup

Bath County at Corbin predictions
People may question your sanity but they can't question your loyalty to the Wildcats after that prediction.
