Congrats P'burg, good luck at Corbin!!!!

M'boro goes for it on 4th & 1 from their own 37, bad snap and P'burg takes over on a short field and scores. The tone for the game is set right there. M'boro could not move the ball in the 1st half. They IMO, should've ran the ball instead of the passing game.

M'boro never ran their strength (veer off.) until they trailed 20-0.

Great job by the Blackcat "D", always pressured Roark in the pocket and made him throw off his back foot alot. A bunch of false starts hurt the Jackets off. as well.

The P'burg took adv. of M'boro not being able to cover the TE, one TD came on a wide open pass to Gearheart for 63 yds. One to Jamerson set up Craynon's TD and they gave up a couple of big first downs on passes to the TE.

The Blackcats will have their hands full at Corbin but it should be a great game.

Congrats to the Blackcats. I'm sorry to say I picked this one wrong. Good luck the rest of the way.

How is Sester? Did he play?

Not 100% but he did play and had a TD run.

Setser only played on the offensive side, but even then was used sparingly. The coaching staff did a really good job protecting him, yet still gave him the opportunity to make a good contribution as a blocking back and decoy with a very few carries. Hopefully he'll be in better shape next week.

Wow...

I thought Coach D. was a gambler until I saw Coach Roark go for it on 4th and 1 on his own 37 and on the first set of downs !! I'd thought they were just trying to draw P-burg offsides until he snapped the ball. Very surprising...

The Blackcats were pretty darned impressive tonight in the way they went for Middlesboro's throat. P-burg was up 20-0 at the half without a single Jacket scoring threat.

In the 2nd half Prestonsburg was happy to trade possessions and milk the clock, keeping the ball almost exclusively on the ground.

Middlesboro did put together a nice drive from midfield using short/medium range passing to spoil the shutout with about 5 mins. left in the game.

Hunter Adams is a very impressive looking athlete. His name was called all night on both sides of the ball for the Jackets. He broke one run of about 30 yards, but was otherwise held in check. However o-line is correct, it appeared the Jackets went mostly with the passing game after they fell behind by 14 so his touches at RB weren't his usual, I'm sure.

Prestonsburg executed the passing game very well tonight. Middlesboro stacked the box every time P-burg lined up in the flexbone. Burchett burned them a number of times playfaking the jet sweep and throwing a TE fade to the opposite side.

Two historically good mountain programs getting together next week. By my count it will be the fourth playoff meeting between the two.

1982 - Corbin 28 Prestonsburg 0

1985 - Prestonsburg 27 Corbin 6

1990 - Corbin 47 Prestonsburg 13

Middlesboro normally stacks the box on every down.

I've thought that Roark putting his son at QB, freshman I think?, might have made them a little pass happy all year.

If you see two corners in man and 9 in the box, you can bet you are playing Middlesboro.

I've never been one to criticize Coach Roark but the decision making and play calling was suspect.

I don't understand going for it that early In the game and with the field position you HAVE TO PUNT the football...

Why did we turn Into a passing team?? After Adams broke one and ran for 30+ yards I counted 6 pass attempts after that all INCOMPLETIONS , we totally got away from what we've done all season long.

Kenny Roark needs to realize it's time to change our defense , IMO because of it it's costed us a lot of games over the years and maybe even a State Championship (2002)..

Anyhow great season Jackets and to the SR's you all will be missed!!!

Can't really disagree with anything you're saying.

But, to be fair, the long Adams run came on a draw (excellent playcall, btw). That's not really the same as a pitch, sweep, or dive (a "standard" running game) .

It looks to me Middlesboro's defense puts everything into brickwalling a power running game. The TE fade P-burg ran out of the flexbone went uncovered all night as Coach Roark never did drop a safety or at least pull the corners back a little. The Blackcats could have run the play all night if P-burg wasn't looking to eat clock.

If memory serves, expectations weren't very high for the Jackets before the season. It's safe to say Middlesboro's season easily passed those expectations. Good luck to you all !!!

Middlesboro was predicted second in the district. They finished second in the district.
