Hard fought win for the Hounds on the road against district foe Whitley County. Both teams will improve once they get their full teams on the floor and get a few games under their belts. Big game from Josh Crawford to lead the way for Corbin.

I agree with Les. The Hounds looked good, but not great.

 

However, I would say that the officials were more rusty than the teams. They made it even more difficult than it already is to find a flow or rhythm to an early season game.

 

Either way, Hounds get the "W." Looking forward to matchup with Clay Co. on Tuesday.

I think Crawford finished with approx. 23 pts, Wilson scored around 16 and Johnson had 18 while only getting to play about 1 - 1 1/2 quarters due to foul trouble.

I happened to see the game last night and it was a hard fought effort on both ends of the floor. Corbin is a little better than I thought that they would be and Whitley is also a little better than I thought that they would be. It was a very physical ball game by both teams. I thought the officiating was bad on both ends of the floor. There wasn't any sort of consistency of the officials which made it difficult for players to get into a flow. I would have assumed that there would have been better officials assigned to a big district game, but leave it to the thirteenth region to assign C officials to one of the most important games of the season for these schools. Crawford hit some incredible shots and looks to be back to 100%. Whitley's defensive effort was incredible, they won every loose ball and defended the hounds surprisingly well.

IMO...the officials allowed way too much contact on both ends of the floor. Id say that Corbin wins the rematch at Corbin by 40+ as more consistent officiating wont allow for all of the muggings. Of course, Corbin will have to make their foul shots too. Last nights game would have been much more lopsided if Corbin would have made their free throws.

Corbin had a nice crowd with them on the road at Whitley. id say that there was about as many Corbin fans as Whitley. I predict the Clay Co/ Corbin game next week will be a good one.
