  1. I see you don't know what you are talking about. He had great talent the last 2 years. In 09 1st team all stater Richie Phares tore his ACL going in the regional semifinal and lost by 1 in the final. This year they got beat in the state semifinal. In 07 they won a state title and went undefeated in the state of Kentucky. In 04 they made it to the Final 4 with a team that had no big college prospects except for a young Jared Carter. Then from 98 to 00 they won a state title, finished runner up, and made it to the final 4. Your judging his whole coaching career on the last 2 seasons when a bad break in 09 helped keep them from a Sweet 16 appearance and this year they made it to Saturday morning.
  2. He would win big at Clay Co. Hes been a great coach every where hes coached at. If he were at Clay Co. you could expect to see him in the Sweet 16 on a fairly regular basis.
  3. I was young and didn't see them play, but what about the Paintsville teams with Vanhoose and Tackett that won it all and made it to the championship game?
  4. By late in the game are you talking about the mid 90s?
  5. With the loss of Frazier this year and losing Arthur Carter and Bo Calebs last year it would appear Bell will be needing some new assistants as well. It would be good to see Bell get some good young guys that may have played in the program.
  6. Bell Co. will have several great offensive weapons back with Cory Davenport, Hilton, Madon, Cody Davenport, and several others. They will create a lot of issues for opposing defenses. I can't wait until they get going!
  7. Bell County will have a great team next year. They work so hard year around and the coaching staff does a such an excellent job working with the kids and getting them to improve. I'm very excited to see what this team can do.
  8. Bell Co's defense is always good. They return several players from a very good defense last season. They have to be in the discussion.
  9. He didn't score quick against Bell Co. :sssh: Just kidding. He was the best football player I seen all year last year. Bell Co. did a heck of a job I thought keeping him from getting the big plays, but he just kept getting better as the game went on.
  10. I think in football 5 classes is great. The way they it was figured out if you had 5 classes everyone would have to win atleast 1 district game to make it to the post season. I think thats very fair rather than having for example, and 0-10 team playing a 1 seed and driving 2 or 3 hours to just get killed. But even with 6 classes its still an honor to win a state title.
  11. It just brings more publicity to the ideas across the state.
  12. You get on here and criticize just about every coach. From Turley to Fraley to Jim Bob Hicks. You criticizing the hire makes me think he will do a good job.
  13. I think it depends on the program. I know when I was in high school we always had great attendance at home games. We put a good product on the floor and people came out and watched us play. I'd say all the good bball programs make a nice profit off basketball. I think it would be horrible idea to cut the number of games. Kids want to play and thats what its all about, them.
  14. I like that idea the best. The opposition I assume would be having students out of class a day earlier.
  15. I think 5 is a good idea. I think that would improve some of the travel difficulties and atleast eliminate the 0-10 teams from making the playoffs.
  16. http://www.kentucky.com/2010/05/07/1255403/fields-ideas-for-new-khsaa-commish.html This could have went in a number of threads. I was torn on whether to put it in basketball or football. But if you look at the 3 suggestions Fields makes I have to agree with him on all 3.
  17. The only thing I would add is that there are a lot of great programs not in those 6 conferences that are major D-1 basketball. Here is some teams that are consistently good and have better programs than most teams in the big 6 conferences. Xavier Butler Gonzaga Memphis Charlotte UAB Temple Utah BYU New Mexico Dayton UNLV And a lot of other teams fluctuate over spans of time bieng really good.
  18. I seen it on WYMT last night. Frazier has been an assistant at Bell Co. for the last few years and is highly thought of. Good hire for Middlesboro.
  19. Congratulations to Justice. He is well-deserving.
  20. What does that have to do with anything? If you can play and work hard good things will happen for you. Thats what Hall has done. Congratulations to him. He has made a big improvement every year that I have seen him and its great to see him get his college paid for at a D-1 school.
  21. I disagree. I do not think the decision should be made lightly for a kid to move up, but if its a situation where a kid is ready then I say move them up. I think we should do what is best for the kids. If a kid can develop better by moving up rather than staying with kids in their grade and not getting any better because the kid is so much above everyone else then why not let them move up. As an 8th grader the kid from Shelby Co, Hicks contributed for them. As a freshman he had a great season. He was ready to move up and Shelby Co. did what was best for that young man IMO.
  22. How do you decide case by case who deserves their school paid for who are in school an extra year?
  23. He inaccurately depicted Flannery IMO. Hes probably 6-3 and a very good shooter. I thought he depicted him inaccurately. I'd much rather talk positively about high school kids rather than call a kid a dime a dozen who is very talented.
  24. I went to several Scott Co. games this year and one thing I noticed about him was how his all around game has improved. I thought he passed the ball very well and he rebounded and defended good. I also seen him score some off the dribble and around the basket. When he was a junior I would have considered all those things maybe even a weakness for him. Just talking to me and some of my friends we all thought he really improved. I'm sorry you can't control talking negatively about high school kids. Thats tough.
