Notre Dame Academy has at times played their home soccer games at Xavier University. In 2008, I believe they played soccer playoff games there.

How about: Defense wins championships, offense dates the Cheerleaders.

I have no problem with him not wanting to trade film with his opponents, but I would have an issue if he accepted and used a quality game film supplied directly his opponent and then either didn't exchange at all or provided a substandard game field.

Dave Brossart and his staff received quite a bit of criticism on here and Dave Wirth has received quite a bit of love. I have no attachment to either, but on the field 2009 Cov. Cath. results were almost identical to 2008 results. In fact it could be argued that in 2008 the schedule was more difficult.

If he has come to a point where he now physically can't do the job and complete the season, then he might have stayed on too long.

You have to respect Schneider for putting in so many years a private school where pay is low; however, he probably stayed on a bit too long.

Ryan Ernst is saying this morning that he talked to Mueller and that the open dates didn't match up.

Are state titles and state championship appearances the best way to guage the relative strength or weakeness of the region? Maybe it is the best way to guage the top, but it does little to measure the depth of solid teams, which was my rationale for saying this is a banner year in NKY.

If Holmes were 5A this year they still might have finished in 4th place, but that doesn't mean they weren't much improved. They didn't win many games in 2008 and except the game against Withrow they have been competitive with everyone in 2009. Yes the schedule is easier this year, but in 2008 Holmes was not competitive in most of their games.

I know exactly what I am talking about thank you very much, but since you want to praise Cov. Cath's tough schedule also note that there have been plenty of blow outs. Playing a tough schedule is great, but it is also nice to pull out the W every now and then.

The point is this years Cov. Cath team is ABOUT where Cov. Cath has been for most of the past decade, which is very average. Use record, use playoff results, use whatever measure you want, but Cov. Cath. has been very average for much of the past 10 years.

Wonder how many people stay over night? I know their is a core of coaches who do, but wonder how many actual fans since 4 of the 6 games are not night games and a commute is fairly easy from virtually anywhere in the state.

My original point was that Cov. Cath. has been mediocre more often than not. Go by records or post season run or whatever measure you want, but the fact is they haven't been a dominate team except for one (except maybe 2 or 3 years) this decade.

You can disagree with it, but you would be wrong. Here is Cov. Cath's record for the last 10 years: Cov. Cath was: 2000: 5-6 2001: 9-5 2002: 6-6 2003: 3-8 2004: 10-3 2005: 7-5 2006: 12-3 2007: 5-7 2008: 5-7 2009: 6-5 You tell me does 2009 look more like what Cov. Cath has done for most of the last decade or the exceptional year of 2006 (remember that 2004 their on the field record was actually 8-5)? I will give you that Cov. Cath's record is skewed a bit by their tough schedule.

I think because NCC and Beechwood aren't as strong as usual it might feel like NKY football might be down. Additionally Boone was weaker than usual. Other than those 3, everyone else is pretty much performing better (or at least the level they have historically): - One could argue that Cov. Cath. was down as well, but lets face it, with the exception of 2006, years like this at Cov. Cath. are much more the rule than the exception. - Dixie's season was about where they have been in the recent past and were probably underachieving a bit, until last Friday when they thumped 9-1 Ashland. - If Highlands wins state and with their win over St. X, some will argue that this is Highlands best team ever (a point I don't agree with, but still a valid argument). - Bellevue and Holmes both have some of their best teams in the past 10 years. - SK has not only their best team ever, but probably the best large school NKY team in the past 10 years as well. - Holy Cross also probably has either their best or 2nd best team in the past 10 years. - Although they lost to Manual, Conner was solid and Ryle is very good. - Scott, although they lost, had their very best post season performance ever. So I guess I would say that although NKY might not be as dominate at the top, overall this might be one of the better years ever top to bottom in NKY.

Not sure I can answer the question you posed, but I can say based upon what takes in Ohio, I highly doubt that Boyle would be playing Danville if there were a Harbin points system in KY. Large schools playing significantly smaller schools in OH seems very rare.

The Trinity/Boyle game and the JH/SK game would both be good ones.

The comment was made by Jim Shue that MAYBE the fact that they all four (4) teams in this district have winning records is the result of playing a "crummy" non-district schedule. You took exception to that and I said that it wasn't that far from being correct. I am not going to do the research (too much time), but I suspect that the gaudy records came from playing teams on your list named: Pulaski County Knox Central Hazard Breathitt County Southwestern Louisville Moore Lynn Camp Middlesboro South Laurel And not teams named: Bell County Corbin Scott County Lexington Catholic Belfy That first list isn't exactly "murders' row".

That is great. I love what Central and coach Scroggins has done, because I think the task is particullarly difficult at an innercity school. However, now that they are on top, maintaining will be a big challenge. Sounds like they know it and are well on their way to overcoming it. Hopefully Holmes can do the same.
