  1. Owensboro has the talent to do it year in and year out. It's a matter of a few bad breaks from injuries to a few key kids either not participating or being injured. I think BG has a staff that can make in game adjustments with the best of em. OHS' staff is great with game planning but I feel in game adjustments have been their Achilles heel. Maybe I'm just a delusional homer, but I feel if a few things are approached differently, OHS can get to the level of BG.
  2. With Tisdale, is age going to be an issue by his senior year? I heard he's going to be too old to play by his senior year. As for BG, the machine is rolling. Well coached, depth at every position. I'm envious because I honestly believe OHS could be at that level if a few things change.
  3. Purple adoptee, be careful what you wish for. I'd much rather be destroying every opponent on the schedule than losing to Owensboro Catholic. Enjoy this time. Savor every single play. As for this game....I honestly thought OHS could possibly make it a game for a bit. After last Friday, this is probably going to be a running clock in the first quarter. OHS is making far too many mistakes right now to compete with BG. Some of that is the youth of OHS. The Devils are extremely young in spots and it shows, especially on defense. The other part of that is the mistakes from the coaching staff. OHS' coaches aren't doing their best to put players in a position to make plays on the field. Before people get all upset at me over saying that, coach Jay Fallin actually said that exact same thing in the Messenger-Inquirer on Saturday. The good news is, coach Fallin recognizes it and that is the first step to fixing it. From top to bottom I think OHS isn't that far removed from BG from a shear talent standpoint. BG has a massive advantage at QB which drastically opens their playbook up. OHS may not have a deangelo Wilson at WR but they have some speed in their own right in Raishwan Washington and Trevor Washington. OHS will need to show trips to get some BG defenders out of the box to open up a lane for Landon Board. If BG still stacks the box, hit the quick screen. OHS will struggle to stop BG at all on defense. I do think OHS will continue to improve on defense as the season moves along considering that the youth of OHS. As for Friday, I hope OHS can be competitive but I just can't see it with all the mistakes. Bowling Green 62 Owensboro 14
  4. Yea, it was BG I believe.
  5. Because Catholic won with half the athletic ability. Stop it lol. BG will have a running clock by the end of the 1st mid 2nd.
  6. A little disappointed in this result on the surface. The good news for OHS is they could've scored more than 48 against Madisonville. The defense only gave up 21 because 7 of the Maroon points came off a pick 6. Also, OHS kicker Nick Brake is showing his reliability by hitting 2 fg's. OHS has hit with 11 penalties but the offense can't have multiple turnovers like last night. I think OHS can get to the point where they could give BG a game if they are clicking but last night makes you question that. OHS' defense is very young (9 new starters) so the curve is still in play. Hopefully the Devils can take a step forward next week against a quickly improving Owensboro Catholic team on the road. OHS RB Landon Board finished with 198 yards and freshman Monte Owsley got on the varsity scene with a 88 yard touchdown run. The young Devils will improve week to week and there will be growing pains. Fans (like me) need to remain patient and enjoy watching this team learn and grow.
  7. If Madisonville can force some OHS turnovers, slow down Board, and hit some big plays themselves, it could be an upset special
  8. As for Warren Central, the dragons can come back if the administration will get their stuff together. You'd be surprised how fast it could happen with the right people in place. It can happen, but will it is the real question.
  9. Everything you mentioned is exactly what I was implying. BG is a lot like UofL. Everyone is on the same page, committed to being the best is everything. That's why I've said, everyone else needs to step the game up. As we said in my day, "don't hate the player, hate the game." BGHS is absolutely playing at the highest level. Wanna beat the Purps? Step up the overall effort!
  10. This game is over before it starts. Bad matchup for the Eagles.
  11. It's not my blueprint, it's BGs. Obviously they have a blueprint or a system in place because the success of their overall athletic programs is the best it's ever been in school history. I didn't imply that anything wrong was going on but obviously everyone in the BG system is on the same page. The fact that BG fans get upset when it's brought up puzzles me. If nothing sketchy is happening, then why be upset? Again, I'm not saying that at all. But the fact remains, Warren Central got ravaged, and BGHS is having unparalleled success. There is a blueprint and it's reaping high rewards for the Purps. Keep on keeping on and the rest of us just gotta up our game
  12. Could this happen? It would be easy. McCracken could travel to South Warren and Warren Central could host Apollo. Both Apollo and McCracken were gonna travel anyway. IMO....this should happen
  13. I just can see anyone hanging with BG this year. Their "weakness" was defense and they beefed that up with the Dingle kid. Christian county is athletic and that may allow the Colonels to hang for a bit. In the end, the purples are too loaded. Bowling Green 56 Christian County 14
  14. I don't doubt BGHS is a great school because I'm sure it is. But it's not a coincidence that the Purples excel in almost every sport and have a high number of out of district kids. I don't fault the Purples at all. They wanted to become a regional power, and that's exactly what they've done. If you want to beat the Purps, you gotta a follow the blueprint and step the game up.
  15. I agree with Rambo. Madisonville having played Evansville Harrison will only help them going into this matchup. The Maroons had a better showing than last year and Harrison is one of the most explosive teams in southern Indiana. OHS did exactly what they were supposed to do last week against Warren Central. The bad news for the Devils is that their starters didn't get a ton of reps. Madisonville has some good athletes and can match OHS in spots. I think the line play of OHS will be the difference but I expect as closer game than some might think. Owensboro 35 Madisonville 21
  16. I'm really high on the Gators this year. They return a lot of talent from last years gritty team. Then, you add in speedster Willie Reynolds and they have the home run hitter they've been missing. ACS seems like a solid team. I was told if not for the turnovers, they'd have won the DC game. Knowing what I know about Greenwood from last year, and Daviess County this year, I have to predict Greenwood to win this one. Greenwood 35 ACS 14
  17. I'm going to nominate Demond Johnson from Muhlenberg County who had a 250 yard and 4 td rushing performance against Apollo.
  18. I think both teams are good solid clubs. I saw Hoptown first hand last week vs OHS in the scrimmage and they are loaded with speed. Graves has a very talented QB and I fully expect them to be in the mix for district 1.
  19. Thanks for the response DragonFire. I agree that WC has to first admit and fix its shortcomings, as I think every school needs to do that. However, I think the community as a whole (mostly WCPS) has to take some ownership as well. People watched the building "catch on fire" yet no one called 911 or offered to help. Instead, it seems as though others used it as a chance to gain some athletes. I get it. It's dog eat dog and every man for himself, but the result is this. If I'm way off base, I apologize. But from an outsider, this is what it looks like.
  20. Short answer: no. There is a massive gap between McCracken, DC and then Muhlenberg. The Stangs have some nice athletes but there are too many positions on the field where they have deficits. Maybe from a shear athletic standpoint, Muhlenberg could be as good if not better than DC but the line and other positions is where seperation comes.
  21. Honestly, this isn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Madisonville has some athletes, and they'll host Owensboro next Friday. Harrison made a run in the Indiana playoffs last year, so narrowing the gap against the Warriors was a good step for Madisonville.
  22. Confidence is high at DC. Coach Matt Brannon feels as though Daviess County can reload from year to year as opposed to rebuild. DC certainly has some playmakers, especially QB Adam Bouchard. I don't have a pulse on ACS, but folks at DC feel as though they can be as good if not better than last year. Should be interesting next week as the Panthers host Owensboro Catholic.
  23. Is it true that WC is going to a JV schedule after this game? So sad.... I guess the rich get richer at any expense. As for the game, not much to take away from it for OHS. They did what they were supposed to do and kuddos to OHS coach Jay Fallin for getting the backups some quality reps. I would've liked to have seen more production from the backups, but credit goes to WC for getting a second half shutout and actually winning 6-0! I think the improvement of QB Zach Gross is critical for the Devils as is the young defense (9 new starters) growing up in a hurry. I heard the Jewell kid from WC will be ok, which I hope is true. This situation for WC sucks beyond measure and I for one, would love to see the Dragons get through this dark time and be back in a few years. I just wonder if there is enough people like DragonFire left, that really care about WC. Shame on the BG community for what they've done to that school......
  24. We called the game last night for Homers Radio. I really like some of the athletes for Muhlenberg County. QB Hunter Combs is one of the best dual threats you'll see. RB Demond Johnson rushed for about 250 yards and 4 tds. Throw in the Pettigrew kid at WR, Devin Evitts, and the freshman Drake and the Stangs have some weapons. Apollo has some nice players in QB Brandon Alexander, RB's Vashawn Miller and Sam Parm, and WR Peyton Peters. Both of these clubs struggle in spots and it shows. Apollo has a very tough schedule so it's going to be hard for the Eagles to find wins this season. Muhlenbergs schedule is lighter so the Stangs may have a shot at a winning season. Neither team is a threat to do damage in the playoffs but you couldn't tell that from the fan turnout last night. Muhlenberg has a great facility and we had a good time calling the game last night.
