Daviess County 20 Allen County-Scottsville 12

Confidence is high at DC. Coach Matt Brannon feels as though Daviess County can reload from year to year as opposed to rebuild. DC certainly has some playmakers, especially QB Adam Bouchard. I don't have a pulse on ACS, but folks at DC feel as though they can be as good if not better than last year. Should be interesting next week as the Panthers host Owensboro Catholic.

Good points 58!

I agree that next week should really let us know more about DC. I think Allen County is a good team, but on the road in week 0 was too much for them.

ACS started almost perfectly, forcing a three and out, and taking advantage of a mishandled snap on the punt. They converted immediately for six, but then the defense ran into a lot of trouble for the next quarter. Daviess County threw the ball well, and scored on their next three possessions, including one they got after an onside kick to start the second quarter. After a turnover and deep pass set Daviess up inside the ACS 10, the Patriot defense tightened up, and I don't think Daviess County entered the red zone again. That likely would have been all the Patriots needed to win the game if not for repeated ill-timed turnovers. Five turnovers for the game, three of which were in the red zone. One of those turnovers was on a fourth down and essentially an arm punt (it was thrown from the 20, caught in the end zone, so ended back up at the 20 - the result was the same in either case). But the other two were fumbles by wide receivers after long pass plays. Both were crucial miscues that took away opportunities for points.

That said, the way the offense moved the ball with decent effectiveness and the way the defense played after the initial quarter are reasons to be optimistic for ACS. They face some tough teams on their schedule, but I see them having at least as good a year as last year. Daviess County impressed as well, especially in their midrange passing game. They need to punch up the conditioning/hydrating, as they had a lot of cramping from their players.

Wow!!! Nice recap DragonFire.

Good Report DFire! I think these are 2 teams with potential in the west. Will be fun to see how their seasons play out!
