newarkcatholicfan Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Congrats on the win. Was this result expected?
Figs Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Congrats on the win. Was this result expected? Not really. Buddy of mine who is close to Muhlenburg's program wasn't expecting this. The result can be looked at 2 ways: 1) Muhlenburg is a little better than usual. Wins/competitive games vs. lower-level opponents but can't play with their 6A brethren is usually the norm. Perhaps they can hang with the district opponents for more than a half this year. 2) Apollo is really, really gonna struggle this year...
devils58 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 We called the game last night for Homers Radio. I really like some of the athletes for Muhlenberg County. QB Hunter Combs is one of the best dual threats you'll see. RB Demond Johnson rushed for about 250 yards and 4 tds. Throw in the Pettigrew kid at WR, Devin Evitts, and the freshman Drake and the Stangs have some weapons. Apollo has some nice players in QB Brandon Alexander, RB's Vashawn Miller and Sam Parm, and WR Peyton Peters. Both of these clubs struggle in spots and it shows. Apollo has a very tough schedule so it's going to be hard for the Eagles to find wins this season. Muhlenbergs schedule is lighter so the Stangs may have a shot at a winning season. Neither team is a threat to do damage in the playoffs but you couldn't tell that from the fan turnout last night. Muhlenberg has a great facility and we had a good time calling the game last night.
Purple88 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 @devils58 do you think Muhlenburg can get 2nd in the district this year?
devils58 Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Short answer: no. There is a massive gap between McCracken, DC and then Muhlenberg. The Stangs have some nice athletes but there are too many positions on the field where they have deficits. Maybe from a shear athletic standpoint, Muhlenberg could be as good if not better than DC but the line and other positions is where seperation comes.
fastaslightin Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Is this the same Mustang team Franklin Simpson beat in a scrimmage last Friday 70-7?
cols Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 @devils58 do you think Muhlenburg can get 2nd in the district this year? I think it will go 1. MC 2. HC 3. DC 4. Mulhenburgh 5. Ohio. Henderson is down and play the best of the best out of the district. They where down last year and still beat Daviess 28-14 and got Ohio and Mulhenburgh by more. if henderson wins those three games that will be only wins of the year.
